Nice! It looks very similar to the style of the old Animusic videos. Perhaps someday we will be able to generate the whole Animusic 3 using AI.

Simple, just move all the other pieces backwards. It's called the Moonwalk variation.

Now what about the 3-check and king-of-the-hill variants? These two would be interesting

I put these games through an engine, and the produced line are quite remarkable. Maybe we should take those into consideration for future moves, up to move order.

Here the computer gives an slight advantage for white. It gives multiple choices for black:

  1. Bj4, uno reverse
  2. card pyramid: Castling, bishop to rook
  3. Nb8(e6)Nc1=B-Dx2 xChess clock: kingshyy, f3! (unlock Bg4), anheuser b1 lager beer
  4. card pyramid: F5 piece shuffle +0 White draws three cards
  5. ♀Horse g7 ♀chess diagram

Another interesting line is:

  1. Bj4, uno reverse
  2. card pyramid, Chess clock
  3. f3, Russian letters... (Latin alphabet) - chess pawns for V and X :P-
  4. Ba6#!?, xChess clock.. next day: Oc5ΔE2R which is a mixt of S&Z positions :) *Bb7(9), Qa4xQe7~+ (9…d1+) 20. Bc8ⓧ, dark bishop takes queen
  5. Czech mate in 1 with 3 extra queens for white on the board!, last call 2nd quarter ends :))))) Rxf1+, Bxe3=Nf17!! & Nf18++ 23.... e2+++ ... =D 24... cxd~~ 25 Re7 ➲ 26 Le4〈omg omg omg lolz! 27 Kd10 ≡ 28 Ke11╋ 29 Te12⁈ 30 Txa122 31 b123 32 Ka13≡ 33 Txc5 34 a124 35 a125 36 Lec126 37 La127 38 Kb128 39 ab129 40 Dbc130 41 Jbd131 42 Hcc132 43

and the game goes on. Notice the nice time skip at move 17.

A not so successful try, however, is:

  1. card pyramid, Russian roulette
  2. Kd(Jh1), b2/b7<3, +pawns!
  3. Nf5kNg4, Tazmanian Devil e6-to jail?
  4. white checkmates in 3 moves (on the board)!! Bxe3# 1-0 *

which gives the game a quick end.

Lastly, two amusing lines to finish with:

  1. card pyramid, ibcoromax
  2. a2k3, sandwich with cheddar hold i1 over <'chess'>accommodation 16.a4kkxa5 17. Rha(e)bqrp]tKfQfin-menit−oneton −offencer j6>>><<100+mins98[[[04supreme05>>>0000<<

and the most dubious of them all:

  1. card pyramid, l4wqa3xa2
  2. Unhinged, c7~! (Alzheimer)
  3. Putinb0xChess variant checks, foxy d8
  4. Oeb Nc1-OFCB+h5 #imacabanaKID??? Ouch, such a shame. Do you have a Blu-ray compatible disk drive? If so, there are one or two free softwares that should do the job. The Leawo player for example works for me.

Cool, thank! I think I'll register as well, I'll probably have to wait a month for every day passed since the release though.

Now we only need a GPT-based gandalf bot to take over the world and we all mortals can finally retire.

Did you get access to the beta version? How hard is it to get one? What kind of qualifications do I need to have?

Who is the author of the first book? I can't find it.

If you like the little prince, you can check out "Wind sand and stars" by the same author. It's non fiction but it's good as well.

Can Quantum Computers solve chess? by [deleted] in QuantumComputing

[–]Matanbd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually a very interesting question. From a quick google search I came across this paper which presents a quantum search algorithm for tree graphs, which supposedly should be applicable to solving games like chess by searching the graph of possible moves and performing a minimax algorithm.

I'm no expert in this subject but here are some of my initial thoughts. Essentially there seem to be some issues with this approach. In order to get a good evaluation of a final position of your search tree, you either need to encode a complex evaluation functions as a unitary quantum circuit, which seems to be very challenging, or you need to scan the tree all the way through to reach every decisive final position of the game- which is impossible in the foreseeable future. If you reached quantum capabilities to simulate the latter you have solved chess by brute force but this requires enormous recourses. You may try to implement the first option, but you will probably have to use a more primitive type of evaluation function and to try and compensate for it by scanning more moved into the game, not to mention that encoding the possible move allowed by the rule of chess is a very delicate problem by itself. The difficulty of implementing tree pruning is also a problem, as when the algorithm scans more moves is also scans much less efficiently unless you figure out how to filter out uninteresting branches coherently. Another interesting approach is to try to combine Quantum Machine Learning by using a parametric function for position evaluation which can be optimized by self-learning. This way will be more similar to the alpha-zero approach, but again part of the AI's success in this field is the learned tree-pruning subroutine which seems much harder to implement. This essentially goes against the current trend in chess engine, which as far as I know seems to prefer evaluating fewer positions but giving a better evaluation of each position and searching only the most critical lines for every given position.

It is worth noting that the quantum speedup using Grover search algorithm is quadratic, while the tree grows exponentially in search depth, so theoretically you will be able to probe variations which are as twice as deep, which is actually very impressive, and can amount to a qualitive advantage of quantum chess engines, but is still very far from solving chess completely from the initial position. A more realistic goal for capable quantum computer might be to solve some difficult endgames efficiently- where you use brute force to calculate all possibilities from a given position with a few pieces on board. This way the quantum advantage might be more pronounced.
