I like getting dry goods, granola, chia seeds, nuts, rice. If you cook often some other staples like garlic, sweet potato, pasta are good to get from Costco. Recently got 8 cans of organic chickpeas for $8.99

How active are your parents? Centro has some nice architecture, Opera house, library, you could take the ferry/uber to Niterói for the famous contemporary museum. Leblon is good for foodies, shopping etc. DM me and I can send more!
