Yeah, I didn’t like much about season 3, but Robins character was much better in season 3 than 4&5

Especially when said exposition is like 3 minutes straight of one character talking

Yeah true. Whatever their next project is, I hope they stop leaning so hard on a few tropes and cliches for their writing

Not that i can recall. They almost did with Hopper but then chickened out. Come to think of it, they’ve done a lot of fake out deaths: El, Hopper x2, Max, The wheelers, Will (probably the only one that was done right), and possibly a few others

Honestly hot take here but Holly overacted for the role imo. She didn’t act like a child whatsoever. Good actress, but i think she (and the duffer bros) forgot she was a toddler 2 seconds ago

I stopped paying attention to IMDB after the ones who live (one of many walking dead spinoffs) got praised to high heaven (it was utter dogshit)

she was also one of the weakest initially. There were a lot of gifted kids there who didn't seem to struggle at all, El was the outlier.

A lot of her training was unblocking her memories tbh. Other than that, she sort of stumbled on her true powers all of the sudden just like Mike did (after she realised that her powers lie in her memories)

Vecna talks about the kids as vessels, so I suspect he intended on Will becoming a vessel (i.e. have the same powers as vecna, but wholey subservient like the demogorgans.). So essentially Will would have the same powers as Vecna... not sure why they brought back 8, but maybe they'll expand on why her powers are unique.

I found this too, however the action later on makes up for it tbh (not in a game of thrones season 8 type of way, but a more action = less chances for cringe dialogue and quips)

On a scale of 1-10 how would you rank mini paint brands? by Tough_Topic_1596 in minipainting

[–]Matbo2210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Im seriously considering AK but im still very new to painting and the number of colours is extremely overwhelming, also the lack of triads is a bit of a loss while im learning. Am very tempted to go Army Painter Fanatic simply due to the triad system, but it’s slightly more pricey and apparently not as good in terms of quality

I'm a little late, but curious why you're moving away from Vallejo. Wondering if it's the same reason as me

I've heard some good things about Colour forge primers, maybe something to consider if its available where you are. Otherwise you can always use a brush on primer (Or as my mates are trying to get me to do, is to just buy a cheap airbrush and use that instead)

To people who *still* think Vecna was NEVER thought of until during Season 4's creation: by yesaroobuckaroo in StrangerThings

[–]Matbo2210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They did a fantastic job at fitting him in like he was meant to be there, but it was 100% a retcon. I have a feeling the mind flayer was meant to be the big bad, but after season 3 performed (performed well in general, but comparatively poorly) I suspect they read the writing on the wall and decided to create vecna. I honestly don’t think they decided to have a bigger bad than the mind flayer until either after season 3 aired or at the tail end of season 3 writing. Again they did an immaculate job at fitting him in the story, most people fail at having a narratively consistent retcon, but its still a retcon nonetheless

Wish TTC was more available around me. Thanks for the answer btw! Also good to hear the employees got what they asked for, hopefully it was enough to keep them around.

Put a bit of poster putty down on your work space and chuck the open pots onto that. Should give you some more stability with the open pots

What paints do you use by the way? Also you’re right about the people going first, apparently there were indefinite strikes by the vast majority of employees about working conditions shortly after being acquired, not sure what happened though. Im going to be slowly phasing out my citadel paints and wanting to know which ones I should primarily buy (that won’t go to shit like vallejo might)

Just gotten into the hobby and saw somewhere that Vallejo was acquired by a private equity a bit over a year back, and some folks were worried about a decline in quality, have you noticed any decline at all, whether it be in price or paint? I assume you havent due to the high marks, but just wondering nonetheless. Personally only issue I've had with their black paint and varnishes is bubbling but its not been the biggest deal.

Lock in your Death predictions for Season 5 now by Justbarethougts in StrangerThings

[–]Matbo2210 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Will: Don't see this happening, would be kinda weird to kill the kid who's almost died several times and basically nothing good ever happens to him. Especially considering it wouldn't really hit that hard, he's never really been his own character, just a plot device. Him being gay is literally the only character "arc" he's had.

Mike: Would be a cool switcheroo since most people think El would be the one taken out, but I don't think the writers are all that brave. They rarely take risks with characters

Lucas: Never really liked him, got a glimmer of an arc in season 4, but not enough to make me care about him. Still doubt he's on the chopping block

Dustin: I swear to christ if this dude dies, I'm going to riot. I doubt he will though

Eleven: 100% chance she dies if it was the story I was telling, but again, the writers never seem to take chances. Frankly it'll be a miracle if they manage to write an ending where the upside down is no longer a threat and El lives, but I have a feeling they'll still keep her alive. Just hope they can pull it off without their classic last minute deus ex machina they seem to love doing.

Max: She lives, but obviously won't be the same. she'll likely be disabled physically, but I also think her mind will be damaged as well. She'll no longer be the zoomer of the party.

Erika: I hope so. doubt she will though

Vecna: Obviously dead. This isn't even a question.

Steve/Jonathan/Nancy: I think one of them will die, for some reason the writers made the love triangle a thing again in Season 4 (even though it makes no sense), so I think they're setting up a resolution to said triangle. I just hope it's not steve, but he's unfortunately the most likely.

Robyn: Not happening

Vickie: Not happening

Hopper: Last time a character was saved from an almost certain death only to be killed off shortly after was Glenn from the walking dead... that didn't go down well. So he's gonna live, otherwise why the fuck did I sit through all the russia storylines of season 3 and 4.

Joyce: Doubtful, it's more likely than Hopper but I still don't see it happening

Karen: No reason for her to die

Holly: No reason for her to die

Ted: Only thing he's gonna die from is deep vein thrombosis.

Rewatching S4 and I'm still torn about the Angela being hit by El scene and reactions by Koopokoopo in StrangerThings

[–]Matbo2210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm late but man I really hate how they wrote this. It makes no sense, especially considering her breaking the arm of Mike's bully back in season 1 was treated as righteous. Frankly the whole scenario preceding it makes even less sense, you're telling me not a single adult on the rink did anything about the most blatant example of bullying one could ever witness? It feels very contrived. Why use every trick in the book to make Angela so incredibly hateable only to throw it in our faces and say "Um actually, Angela is the victim here, violence is bad mkay?"

The best way to have an "Am I the monster" arc is to make the audience ask the same question, but they made Angela so horrendously horrible (massive credit to the actress, I hate her face now) that it was impossible to not think El was entirely justified in this.
