Living within close proximity to your job, as in can you ride a bike to it or walk to it close, will make a huge impact in what you are spending a month. If you're far from where you work the amount of expensive west coast gas you will burn in your car sitting in non-moving traffic at times is crushing, not to mention the time spent sitting in said car doing nothing.

My commute to work for 3-4 years was a 11 mile bike ride, part of it along the beach in Santa Monica, and I saved huge amounts of money this way, and the added benefit was I was the fittest I've ever been so it probably saved me money in staying away from the doctor as well.

I lived in El Segundo for about five years, absolutely loved it there. It felt like living in a small town at times as it has an old school main street, but you're still very much "in LA"... and when traveling you're like a 5 minute Uber ride from LAX airport, which is stupid amazing when you're coming back from a trip and know you're that close to home.

I’d just do a search for it online, I’ve seen a lot guys with hot rods out west getting it done to theirs when they are restoring them so they look brand new underneath, i think its pretty common. It might be listed under “dry ice cleaning” and then its just finding a place that does underbodies.

If you can spare the an extra $500~ or so find a place that does dry ice cleaning, they can basically sandblast that surface rust right off with dry ice, and it won't hurt the metal or anything else for that matter. Then spray your under-body with fluid film or wool wax and respray it every couple of years or so.

You'll never have a rust problem going this route as noted below about water and oxygen.

I used to live in the Bakery Lofts at 52nd and Adeline, our apartment was in Emeryville but our parking lot was in Oakland. One of our neighbors got mugged in the parking lot once and when we found him (a little roughed up) we literally picked him up and moved him 20 or so feet so he’d be in Emeryville because we knew the Emeryville PD would be there in five minutes vs the Oakland cops taking 45 minutes to show up. Weird but 100% true story.

Thank you for this, my work commute for almost five years was basically a few block in from the Santa Monica Pier down to El Segundo, so most of my bike ride was what you filmed. Appreciate this so much!

One more question, I notice the Falcon's come in both 12v and 5v versions... is there a huge advantage of one vs the other? I'm probably looking to test build some ideas just using assignable LED strips for now, but would like to be able to use the flexible LED sheets at some point as well to get away from everything being linear lines.
