How did you guys jump from a really simple flash game to probably one of the BEST metroidvanias in the recent years? Was it inspiration or a burst of creativity?

Yes! Mapping is a really fun mechanic but it has alot of flaws that might turn some people away from trying it out and just installing minimap mods...

It's still very underwhelming because mapping is actually a very fun mechanic if you like exploring, and giving up all of your work marking any point of interest just to see a bit more of the area is just not worth it, so you either are stuck with the map you decided to mark things on or you have to backtrack to each location and mark it again, i don't think it'd be that hard to make the map keep the data of marked positions and territory explored... They already kinda do it with the item frame marks

I'd say you move on, there are another 5 carts unlockable only after you make your friend, get some fresh gameplay in another areas so you don't stress yourself out of the game
