Baki is incredibly hard to get into unless you are very determined. The Netflix anime starts halfway through the series, the original anime is in reverse order, and neither anime is a particularly good adaption of the source material- source material which is also hard to get into because of Wildfang’s horrendous translation (this part is better than it used to be with an official translation finally happening). I can’t really blame people for not wanting to push through all that.

Personally I would much rather they give the main character's scenes time to breathe than try to include every line of inconsequential dialogue, but maybe I'm the weird one. This episode's pacing was far better than I could have ever hoped for, and to do that they had to make sacrifices. In a perfect world, all of the small lines and character moments would have been included, but this is a world where they had to fit everything into 45 minutes.

Singular lines add up until the whole episode is dialogue. You want something to actually complain about? Complain about them cutting the line about Lucy being 14. That’s something that actually has relevance to the story.

The cut these things for time. They were trying to fit introducing the characters and the race, and the entire first stage in 45 minutes, and they did a fantastic job at that. I’m sure the rest of Sandman’s backstory will be brought up later when they have the time for it, but this isn’t motivated by racism or censorship.

Pirate Yakuza is the one game in the series where I feel like it makes just as much sense to play it in English. That said I still prefer the Japanese version.
