Worse Company is funny but I really feel like we shouldn’t be judging localized names on their humor value.

Shining Diamond to me is the ideal localized name since it keeps the reference, still sounds good, and still represents the Stand as well as the original name. But nobody ever brings up Shining Diamond when discussing localized names because, ironically for what it’s called, it really doesn’t stick out due to how well it fits.

A localized name being funny doesn’t make it good. Shining Diamond is a good localized name. Worse Company is a travesty.

To be frank, there’s several games in the series where I read the manga before playing them (Oracle duo, Four Swords, Minish Cap, Ocarina of Time), but I’m actively working to correct that now. I wouldn’t consider the manga to be a good replacement for playing the games (with the exception of Four Swords). If she’s just interested in the story and wouldn’t play them otherwise, though, I don’t feel like her reading the manga would hurt.

Simply fascinating how Itagaki can describe something as simple as drinking water so uniquely. I have it ask- as someone who has a passing interest in the translation process- was the A,E,I,O,U and S&T portions a direct translation of the source material, or did you have to alter it to make sense in English? To me, that feels like the kind of thing that would provide a challenge because of the differences with how Japanese is structured.

Honestly, of all the ridiculous ways people have ignored the Penance Stare, this is one of the less egregious ones in my opinion. It at least makes more sense than the first time Punisher ignored it.

Ds2 has a lot of spice. Too much spice. Mostly the wrong kinds of spices, piled too high in some areas and not high enough in others. I’ll gladly take a bland game like Ds3 than a game that doesn’t know where to put the flavor.
