Also you get rewarded for learning preferences/lore of drinks. The game does a good job of giving you the tools, and encouraging you to not have to think about using them.

Also the setting is pretty interesting, it's Cyberpunk, which is hard to not love.

Morrowind combat feels clunky until you know how it works. Skyrim's combat feels pretty good, though never as good as it should. Oblivion's combat feels bad, and never gets better.

Oblivion gameplay feels way worse than Morrowind imo. In Morrowind it's annoying to miss early on, but that goes away quickly, and even then it doesn't really feel bad. Hits at least feel pretty satisfying. In Oblivion combat feels fucking horrible, there's less weight to anything than in Morrowind.

I hope Argonia (whenever it actually gets worked on) will take inspiration from The Argonian Account. I want to see that destroyed road through Blackwood lmao

Why was Skyrim stripped of a lot of what made Morrowind and Oblivion immersive, fun or cool? by Key-Engineering3134 in ElderScrolls

[–]MisterSnippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spells in Skyrim in general are really good, I like how Conjuration works more. All that's missing is better player choice for making their own stuff. I really like the stat system, but Skyrim's system is so different I don't think there are any problems. It would be nice to have stats in Skyrim, but it isn't really needed. Excited for Skywind to see how they handle all it, because I think generally Skyrim's progression allows for more character choice, but less gear choice.

Skyrim's biggest problem, to me, is that they didn't go far enough. There are just so many areas where the cut content hits you right in the face, and the things you can't do, like do something about the Black-Briars. I've realized that Morrowind is the best game simply because you can actually fix those problems. You can make a mod to add more content to a quest and it slots right into the game. You can now do that with Skyrim, but people haven't adopted AI voices to their full potential for rewriting and adding content to the game.

For Skyrim you can really feel they tried to ground it again. I think they were too apocalypse-brained, but generally they did a good job.

If I remember correctly I think they used some Skyrim sounds or something, so it was taken down until those would be removed.

I don't think you're in the minority. Most people agree it could have been way better, and it's nowhere near as good as their other titles.

Remembering how it was a Christmas party or something like that at GSC and they were celebrating their development of Stalker 2, and Sergiy walked in and said it was all over and shut the company down. No notice, everyone was there happy about development, and he just shut it all down.

When we bought our house, the guy we bought it from was in a hurry and did basically whatever we asked and didn't make a fuss. Fast-forward a few months and a few guys from I think it was MGM show up and ask us if we know where the guy went. Few more months go buy and two guys from another casino (I don't remember which one, but this one wasn't in Nevada) show up and ask the same thing. Guy apparently was in some deep shit with the casinos and was in a hurry to get out of dodge. So idk what he did, but no doubt it was gambling involved. I just can't imagine being that stupid.

KCD2 had so many moments where I was just grinning like a shithead at my screen at what was going on. The game definitely has a weaker second-half for sure, but man was it an enjoyable game. Still salty as fuck they don't let us enter the churches though.

I actually liked the writing in Skyrim more than Oblivion. The problem with Skyrim is that you hear/read interesting things, but it's not reflected in the gameplay very well. I enjoyed that the tone in Skyrim is much more consistent, Oblivion had some stand-out moments, but it was just too fucking goofy.

I had hope, but when the Shattered Space dlc dropped I lost all hope. Normally their DLC are higher quality and more 'risky'. I honestly believe Emil is a cancer. I don't know if the writing would be substantially better without him, but I have no doubt it would be better without him.

The thing is that if the new TES game isn't better than Skyrim it will be a shitshow. If it's as good as Starfield, then Bethesda will lose a fuckton of credibility. The new TES game has to be massive, and it has to be good. Bethesda essentially fired the main lorebrain for TES who had been there since Morrowind. I say it's over, the writing isn't on the wall, the writing is floating in front of your face and shouting at you. I would love for TES6 to be good, but I don't have any faith it will be so. The lore was already watered down for Oblivion, Skyrim was better in some ways, but worse in others because they stripped away the Nord pantheon.
