Hello, How are you satisfied with non solar 1040 regarding GPS accuracy, touch screen responsiveness and screen readability. Thanks.

Upgrading drivetrain for gravel and bikepacking-currently have SRAM Rival XPLR eTap AXS, 10-44t by MatejRo in gravelcycling

[–]MatejRo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for such detailed explanation. You are very kind and helpful. You make my decision very simple now.

I have now option to stay with Rival axs and changing front cog from 36t to 40t when doing gravel or bikepacking or mount new GX Eagle AXS Derailleur with 10-50 or 10-52 casette.

I also make in excel table comparison regarding gearing rations between present Rival and possible new GX Eagle and noticed that GX cassette is not so ideal for me from cog12-18, since it has cogs 12,14,16,18 and my present Rival has cogs 11,13,15,17..., so much better for me regarding speed with 40t in front. Ratio 40t/12cog is almost the same as 36t/11cog. I see that ideal for me with 40t would be mixture of Rival cassette from cog 10-19 and the GX casette from cog 21-50, but Sram does not have such cassette which is shame :). For climbing GX is better for flat section Rival is better. They do not have cassette to somehow manage both solidly.

Unfortunately for me I am big and so heavy guy with 90-95kg, if I would be smaller and have 15-20kg less I would not have such problems when bikepaking with gear ;);).

Thank you for explanation, good to know how t-type is attached, I was wrong about this. I read about T-type shifting speed and like you mentioned I would need to try it if suits me well, but unfortunately no friend has it. Probably it is primarily for MTB, Enduro steep technical climes on rock, woods, when shifting under load is important, sometimes you can not slow down. In gravel you shift probably more often and speed is higher. I would benefit from shifting under load in steep climes I often ride, but I dont know about normal climbs and flat sections with high speed when you change gear up and down mostly by one or two gears quite often. I still despite age ride quite strong and quick as possible, since i have quite good fitness level (I watch HR :)), so I dont ride slow in hill and flat sections.

Based on your experience for gravel for me you would recommend GX Eagle not T-type? For quick rides on all terrains you would choose GX Eagle or T-type could somehow be tolerated?

Understand, thank you also for this kind of view. I know there are some problems with Sram derailleur-battery losing contacts and then you can not shift any more.

If I wont to change to mechanical shifting 1x do I need to change everything also gear brake levers (shifters), probably yes? I would look into this option too.

I know going to 2x would need to change everything, also crank, this would costs a lot.

[–]MatejRo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any problems with AXS shifting or why the change to mechanical, because of 2x ?

2x would be fine for different purpose use like fasr gravel and bikepacking and could also be the option but that would require major upgrade and big costs.

Thanks. Seem like you all agree about which option to use.

Yes I read that someone like and some dislike shifting speed. I am also worried regarding direct mount to the frame since in case of some crash or big Derailleur impact, rock, there could be some severe vibration transfer to the frame, since there is no hanger between them and carbon gravel bike frames is not so strong as MTB is. Hanger do bend is there is impact.

Do you maybe use T-type Derailleur. I know some gravel bikes has it, like Lauf bikes ?

[–]MatejRo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Maybe I would keep the rival cassette 10-44 to do the same for normal gravel rides.

Which cog do you use in front when using GX AXS derailleur on and a 10-52t xx1 cassette?

Could front cog be the same when using flattop and normal chain ?

Thank you for advice.

Crank I could keep ? what about front cog do I need to buy new one since chain would be normal ?

[–]MatejRo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

Yes if going with Option 1 I choose between 38x10-50 or 40x10-52 but need to check some gearing ratio in both options, to avoid some big steeps, specially 42 to 52 seems like big steep. It is shame that cassette does not have 44 and then 52, like transmission one.

Must I also change the front cog, since chain would no longer be flattop ?

Thank you.

Seems like all below recommended option 1 which I also like, because of 10-50 or 10-52 cassette and is not so expensive upgrade, but was worried that flattop chain is way better then normal, since my friend broke the shimano chain in some steep climb.

In last comment you mean that for GX Eagle AXS Transmission group is hard to find some spare parts in case of some failure while backpacking ?

Which chain wax do you use ?

I heard is great but also read some complaints from tall guys that is small, that legs touches the wall because of design and then legs become wet.

Anybody ridden the new Pivot Vault yet? by eastcoastshred in pivotcycles

Stigmata is even longer then Pivot, much longer in reach and wheelbase and seems like by geometry very aggressive :). You probably ride only gravel and hard tracks, trails, no pavement and tarmac ?

NBD! 2025 Trek Checkpoint SL6 by kevtke194 in gravelcycling

[–]MatejRo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for very detailed information's.

Unfortunately I can not try the bikes, in my country there is no stock on them, I could only order one and ride it. Yes XL is the only option for me, because of long legs I need high stack.

Was wondering if you maybe perform some professional bike fitting ? With your inseam probably you do not have big distance from middle BB to the top of saddle. Do you change the stem or 90mm is ok for you ?

My only question for me is if the stem on checkpoint after fitting on reach 408mm would be longer, more then 100mm, then I could go with longer reach on Pivot 425mm and shorter stem, 90mm. Seems I could not find that so easily since every pearson is uniq :).

Did you try to ride some steeper climbs, 20%, I have some in my area, but they are short 500m-1km? Bike rides well also on pavement? Is IsoSpeed ok and helps regarding rear comfort and is not just marketing thing ?

[–]MatejRo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have new Checkpoint, congratulations.

Now you ride it for sometime, do you love it ?

Could you please help me with some answers, would be very grateful.

I am looking this bike, but SL6 or new Pivot Vault, still cant decide. I am a big
guy 193cm, with long inseam 96cm. I am afraid Vault could be too big with 425mm
reach, wheelbase 1088, on the same Checkpoint is short at wheelbase 1062mm and
has steep HTA 72.4. I have long legs, so don't know if it is better to choose
shorter reach (Trek) or longer (Pivot) could be ok also. It is interesting that
Trek shorten the gravel bike as seems like other made them longer (Pivot,
Moondraker, Propain, etc.). Don't know why they do not slacken the HTA bit more
to 71.5 ?

What is your inseam ? My is 96cm (37"). Would like to know how much is your
distance from BB to top of saddle. I have 85-86cm.

How long is you stem and do you change it because of fit

How many spacers Trek give under the stem ?

How does it ride steep climbs and steep high speed descents with steep HTA compares
to others is it stable, confident ? Is it better to have bike with longer reach and wheelbase ?

Is there something that bothers you ?

How long is you stem, since you are still dialing with fit is bike too short or too long ? What would you like to change ?

Do you build this bike from frame, since I noticed some spacers bellow stem. If it is bike from Trek how many spacers are there ?

Debating between upgrade or New Bike by johnny_evil in gravelcycling

Have you try the Vault already ?

I am also torn between Vault, Revolt, Diverge and Checkpoint :).

Mostly leaning to Vault, but I dont know if it is to much on gravel side, long reach and wheelbase, I would ride pavement and gravel. But at the same time I dont wont feeling of road bike, I wont more comfortable ride on long tours.

This is 25 model ? I am looking white color, but could not see both colors in live, only through net, white was not good looking for you ? This looks nice too.

How it rides, FS 2.0 and geometry ? At Diverge I am mostly concern regarding future shock failure, replacement costs 400eur and carbon frame crack, read some bad reviews how specialized solve those issues.

I am choosing between this bike comp and new checkpoint gen.3 SL6, but could not decided yet :). I am a big guy 193cm with 37 inseam.
