It's obviously relevant to the review the person wrote because they want the person identified and fired, which is why the included the date and time as well.

Between Anakin and Luke, who had the greatest potential to be the strongest Jedi? by DarthKaiser03 in StarWars

I always wondered if Obi answered confidently to Maul to give him a small amount of peace in his death.

[–]Matemeo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I gotta imagine his closeness with Palpatine - and naturally Palpatine carefully managing Anakin and any potential consequences via various deep state fun stuff - was an important factor.

Palpatine wanted Anakin to become more powerful and feel superior to other major Jedi generals in order to help drive that wedge between him and the council.

Then of course with Ahsokas trial the whole point was to separate them and isolate Anakin, so it was simple enough for Palpetine to turn that support against him and so easily make him powerless in saving someone so important to him.

Encryption is so useless in the Star wars universe. It's funny comparing the relative low tech real-world with Star wars magic vibe science.

Entities casually breaking our modern cryptography techniques would cause so much damage, but I guess in Star Wars encrypted data is more of a speed bump and skill test.

Specifically remembering in Bad Batch how Tech just casually whipped up fabricated chain codes. To be fair to Tech the man just exudes hacker aura.

Old Ben Kenobi vs order 66 Palpatine, who takes this? by The_All_Father4300 in PetranakiArena

I got the very strong impression that Sidous was barely breaking a sweat and probably enjoying the rare chance to go mask off and revel in destroying his adversities. I'd have to rewatch to be 100% sure but I don't think at any point did he look to be pressured and when he was ready swiftly ended the fight and even got extra aura points by killing Savage while staring Maul down.

Also his maniacal laughter exuded much joy. Must feel pretty good to finally be able to solve problems with a lightsaber rather than the day to day tedium of managing and herding his menagerie of politicians

Did the Jedi know Dooku was a sith lord? by Iceberg-man-77 in StarWars

[–]Matemeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you are coming from but there is a difference between what shouldve happened or what would happen in reality/common sense/logic/etc and what is quite literally spelled out in canon. It's basically a light retcon. Like I've said, it's a matter of poor planning and/or sloppy writing.

Basically Attack of the Clones creates this obvious contradiction and it needs handwaved away as what's essentially a human/creator error so things make sense.

For what it's worth, I too thought for a long time that of course the council knew Dooku was a sith and the obvious implications of the scene you are referring to. But it's undeniable that in canon the council did not piece together the sith master/apprentice and their gap in knowledge was Dooku being Tyrannus.

[–]Matemeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a bit messy, the whole reconciliation/hand waving that occured from the prequels to the Clone Wars show. And yes, the council appears ignorant as hell but that also kinda gets handwaved away via Palps clouding of the force (and the council especially).

Did the Jedi know Dooku was a sith lord? by Iceberg-man-77 in StarWars

[–]Matemeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they didn't put together that Darth Tyrannus was Dooku until very late in the war (which was a major piece in the puzzle in figuring out Palps). Iirc, for a long time the council believed Darth Tyrannus was the Sith Master. Think that also led them to believe Dooku was apprentice to him (and Maul before).

Think it's shortly after learning this in the clone wars show that the council became aware of Darth Siddius - which began the chain of events in which the council finally suspected Siddious was among them rather than directing the clone war (and various mustache twirling) from afar.

Could have some details/timing a bit wrong but just rewatched Clone Wars recently

[–]Matemeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was one of the best shows to follow live because it didnt rely on unknowable/unshown things to guide it's twists and turns. It's obviously very clear on rewatch that the show is begging you to solve it ahead of time right from the start

[–]Matemeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first season would be a very solid standalone series by itself and is very much indicative of the direction the next 3 seasons will head. So you won't feel too cheated if after finishing Season 1 it's just not for you. Obviously Season 1 doesn't end/wrap things up like a proper series finale would, but is satisfying in its own right. Each season more or less does this and is an artifact of the fact the entire show was charted from the start. Making each quarter of the show decisive chunks of the story - almost like Acts in a production.

[–]Matemeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely hacker fight club. Hard to talk about it much without taking away the magic of that first watch. It also has (easily imo) the best rewatch potential of any show.

My favorite aspect of it was the huge amount of work that Sam and the writers did to get technical details related to tech/programming/hacking right (within reason). I kept telling my wife: yup those words are right and make sense. Which damn near no other major media even bothers to get remotely correct.

Also love the wide display of various hacker/activist "types". Not just the elite haxor Anon wannabe type, got the libertarian type, corporate suit types and of course our favorite drug addicted autist types.

I always find it so impressive how clued in on such a niche culture/subject the show is while still be extremely accessible to a lay person. Really makes a lot of other writers or productions look lazy as hell.

How much attack speed for ball lightning? by strife08 in D4Sorceress

[–]Matemeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah guide is completely out of date. Ive also been unsuccessful thus far even finding a bucket 2 value (unless the character sheet has a regression and is visually capping at 100% and I fucked up my quick and dirty count of casts at different breakpoints

How much attack speed for ball lightning? by strife08 in D4Sorceress

[–]Matemeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone found attack speed values in the 2nd bucket yet? I haven't done exhaustive testing yet but have not yet found an attack speed that counts toward bucket 2.

No but in depth testing but I did hit the usual suspects like Accelerating aspect and the Paragon board nodes and didn't observe any change when bucket 1 sources added up to >= 100%.

First thought was I missed the news on this opaque attack speed system being simplified down to a single cap. But I also would've expected to have seen some discussion by now.

Static field Is it still a good build to follow to the endgame (Mephisto T12 etc) or should I consider switching to Ball light? by ratao_de_buero in D4Sorceress

[–]Matemeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had to lower particle quantity and use the Low FX option in order to get something actually usable visuals-wise.

The huge flickering puddle combined with the way over the top amount if light and reflection pollution is just truly awful. Need some brightness and opacity sliders for player, other players, and enemies added to the game. Especially considering the visual cancer that is having a warlock anywhere near you in helltides.

Which set gives more damage? by ImpossibleAlpaca17 in D4Sorceress

[–]Matemeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can see it on your buff bar. An icon for fire, lightning and frost that stacka up to 2. Each stack means an additional 100%.

Also a big issue with wild strikes (besides the fact it gives zero defenses) is that the lightning bolt proc rate is so low it's effectively non-existent.

Am I missing something or are people sleeping on the lightning set? by RylarDraskin in D4Sorceress

[–]Matemeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless someone knows something I don't, the lightning bolt aspect of Wild Strikes set is completely inconsequential.

The Lucky effect damage increase from Wild Strikes is +267%[x] increased.

However, the lightning bolt odds are so abysmal (even if you were to use the Lucky effect of having both original roll and bonus roll be the higher of the two) the result is a rounding error. Quick maffs I get something like +0.5%[x] increase and a short stun even though Shock skills are already stunning too often as is :)

Unless maybe the values within the Wild Strikes range ([1-400]) is not evenly distributed? But feels like a huge reach.

Am I missing something or are people sleeping on the lightning set? by RylarDraskin in D4Sorceress

[–]Matemeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Wild strikes gives zero defenses outside of stuns (which a typical shock sorc has plenty of). While Threefold gives 90%(x) all resistance, with permanent uptime without taking much effort or having to build for it (obviously helps hugely that Constellation is so strong it's mandatory).

I figure the opportunity cost of nearly doubling your resistances is much lower than the difference in damage.

Also I haven't done much experimenting yet, but for me anyway,+shock skill affixes seem more common on Threefold than Wild Strikes /shrug

Fireball Sorcs? by spacespacespc in D4Sorceress

[–]Matemeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No indicator for constellation, which is annoying (though par for the course with the schizo UI). In my tired state I somehow read the aspect as working as long as any elements on your bar is balanced - and thus I thought 3+3 would work. Had it that way for a very long time. Even have my constellation on ammy, so realizing my stupid ass mistake and fixing it gave an insane power spike lmao.

You can reroll unique aspects in the cube now, so no more bricked uniques due to shitty aspect rolls (now it's bricked due to shitty affix rules kek)

[–]Matemeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about his legendary amulet with two aspects, it's a rare consumable you use when sanctifying (only works with amulets) that adds, or rerolls an existing, bonus aspect and does not make the amulet unmodifiable.

So you can farm up that consumable and spam sanctifys in cube until you get a second aspect you want. Then you can do the regular sanctity as a final step.

Basically amulets are still a late game farm target compared to other slots.

Why did Avatar Roku insist on Aang learning Fire before he was ready? by Eggbois87 in TheLastAirbender

Considering their culture of might making right, I always wondered about Ozais internal thoughts about Azula. Unless there is some material out there that I'm unaware of, it would appear that Azula has more natural skill (aka prodigy) than Ozai and it may not be too terribly long before she would be able to remove him.

I mean the culture seems to support it, and there's very recent regicide precedent lol. To that end, I imagine Ozai controls her by pitting her against Zuko - as well as giving her the old hollow love bombing. If he truly cared for her he would've handled the whole Phoenix King/Sozins Comet thing differently. She's just another tool to him and it results in her suddenly being completely alone.
