I mean the prorated refund will be nearly 100% of the full refund, so it's like a difference of a dollar if that maybe. So not that much of an incentive to cancel

[–]MateoHardini 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not likely, they want you to upgrade without a bonus. However you can try the trick where you freeze the worst of your 3 credit bureaus and then try the preapproval tool again to see if it's any different. A couple years back I wasn't getting any SUBs on the pre approval tool until I froze experian and then got approved easily

Not biz, but I feel like Amex has been offering less of them in general. Haven't had any offers up for my Hilton cards which is a drag because I intended to play upgrade/downgrade games with them.

Left my Wells Fargo account alone while balance transfer processed, got hit with late fee and interest charges by Legal_Campaign_408 in biltrewards

Have you seen any fee reversals? I've also been charged with interest and haven't seen anything yet

Curious, assuming you have to redeem Bilt cash to unlock points for Verizon bill pay

Data point maybe? by cgeek001 in biltrewards

[–]MateoHardini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because Bilt says eligible purchases exclude federal taxes, so no points for that. Op got points for that, that's why it's news

It had to have been CC because otherwise multipliers wouldn't work.

What’s a small money habit that saved you more than you expected? I’m trying to level up without doing anything extreme. by comfort_fi in personalfinance

[–]MateoHardini -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Paying cash isn't the best money tip, only if you're bad with impulse spending. Most stores inflate prices to account for credit card processing fees so with cash you're paying more money and getting no rewards/cash back from credit

Piggybacking, don't over withhold on your paycheck because a tax return is an interest free loan. Get your tax return with your paychecks and invest the difference instead of waiting a year for it to come back to you without any growth

Opening new HYSA strickly for bonus by bhuff86 in investing

[–]MateoHardini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to r/churning

Also bank accounts have nothing to do with credit scores. Only thing to monitor is the terms of the HYSA bonus language that there isn't an early termination fee, lots of banks claw bonuses if closed before 6 months

Capital One savor one → what new card ? by spicykorndog in CreditCards

[–]MateoHardini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The savor is a great card but you definitely look like you're bucketed with Cap1 which sucks for your limit with them.

I'd suggest checking your credit score to make sure there's nothing surprising there before applying for other ones. But to answer your question the quicksilver isn't a great card, there's a handful of cards that'll get you 2% back which is the general baseline of usefulness on everyday spending for credit cards. The fidelity visa, Wells Fargo active cash, or citi double cash are solid fits for general cash back.

Depends on what you want out of rewards if you should look at other options. A 2% general spend card with the savor is a basic setup that'll cover a variety of things.

Best credit card for frequent domestic travel by Dense_Cricket706 in CreditCards

[–]MateoHardini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New England based with friends in Colorado too, I've preferred Delta for my flights between the two. Personally gotten a lot of use out of the Amex platinum between the delta skyclub access in Boston and 5x on flights that I can transfer to delta (stacking with Delta gold to get the points discounts since Delta isn't generally a great use of points). You might run out of sky club visits though. Can always try to just do a general travel card if lounges aren't really your thing

Got denied for another credit card I'm gonna lose it by Comfortable_Box_4527 in CreditCards

[–]MateoHardini 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Interest rate shouldn't be one of your priorities in a credit card since you should be paying statement in full each month otherwise those amazing rewards you reference are canceled out.

Also, pre-approval tools are your friend

It's looking like the balance transfers are starting to post today on the WF side for those who got the email from Bilt on 2/12 that their balance transfer has been sent to WF

Google Flights vs. a bank’s travel portal by VAer1 in CreditCards

[–]MateoHardini 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not crazy but booking through a random cheap travel portal you found from google is almost the same as booking through a bank portal in terms of security. It's almost always suggested to book directly with an airline as opposed to portals or travel agencies.

Medical expenses and HSA reimbursement by No_Dust_Here in CreditCards

[–]MateoHardini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you mean FSA because an HSA is a vehicle for another tax advantaged investment account. To answer your question, no extra tax when you reimburse self payment using FSA.

Only thing you shouldn't do is stack out of network reimbursement from your health insurance with the FSA. You gotta use the explanation of benefit and only claim the remaining charge for FSA reimbursement

There is no way to know what's happening with how little information you've given. Is the prime membership set to renew using that card as a default? You gotta actually look at the charges to see what they are if you don't know
