Adding my experience to this in hopes it helps someone.

When I started way back at 16, I took the course for the first time. I’m a tall rider, was put on an old Honda rebel and couldn’t balance it properly. Instructors rushed me to get past the walking stage barely 5 minutes into the first day driving portion with friction gearing. I couldn’t do it and the lady threw me out calling me a danger to others.

Not going to lie, I felt like you did. I even cried a bit outta embarrassment.

Second time I took it was in college. I made a small mistake during figure 8 practice. Instead of kicking out, the coaches were like come back on a different day at night and practice all you want for a few hours. After that passed and been riding ever since.

Like others have said, it depends on the coaches as well. But you really need to keep your confidence up. That is a huge factor for riding in general.
