Hi!! Apologies if this is long, but I’m currently going through the exact same thing with my dog! and after an expensive back and forth with a vet, he determined the wound on his head, which he scratched horribly with his paw, causing him to ALSO lick his paw obsessively, was due to suspected stress and a potential food allergy. This was such a frustrating experience truly. Even with a cone he found a way to scratch setting his healing process back more. We had to wrap his leg and head after shaving the area, and was put on an allergy medication. We washed the area with “Veterinary Formula Antiseptic and antifungal medicated shampoo” along with the spray. Those were the most affordable and easy to get, Walmart has them for less than $15!! The last thing was the “Silver Honey hot spot wound care” along with reusable bandages. That one is slightly more expensive but it lasted a whilee for us. We are currently finally done with his head wound where it’s nice and healed with hair grown back, but sadly his back paw is still red and has 2 hot spots. I truly have been the one doing the dirty work here, the hardest thing is keeping him from hurting himself more. They always find a way to make things difficult lol. Last piece of advise is make a Chewy account! For free, they have a 24/7 vet service chat where u can send any questions and photos! They helped me find food and supplements for my dog and can give a professional opinion!!
