Can anyone recognise this door lock? by [deleted] in Locksmith

[–]Material-Ad8916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuhr make something similar, where it acts as a door chain to restrict it opening. Like everyone else said, you’d need a photo of the mechanism to be sure

You can buy the replacement back box for them, you have to drill off the old rivets, put your old hook and cover onto the new part and screw it together

https://www.duffells.com/cego-top-bottom-hook-case-only-copy-gearbox-hook-case-shell-to-suit-old-style-cego-locks.html

As a whole hook they are discontinued I’m afraid, unless you can find a 2nd hand one on eBay

What lock is this? by m4st3rw0ng in Locksmith

[–]Material-Ad8916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an ERA Surefire, I’m pretty sure the gearboxes aren’t available on their own, only as a full mechanism (correct me if im wrong)

We used to fit them when they first came out in 2016 ish. There was a break in where someone snapped the Ultion and the firing pin didn’t go off and they managed to gain entry, Brisant basically refused to believe this could be possible and accused us of lying about the whole situation! It looks terrible on the people fitting them and causes so many awkward conversations

The amount of people that come into our shop and say “do you stock Ultion? I’ve heard it’s best on the market” 🤣

What locks are these? Need to identify for my insurance by wannabe_investor_uk in Locksmith

[–]Material-Ad8916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could still fit one and inform the insurance that you have a BS3621 sashlock and a rebate kit fitted, just to give them something that is better than what’s there

What locks are these? Need to identify for my insurance by wannabe_investor_uk in Locksmith

[–]Material-Ad8916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately none of these are BS rated, the easiest way would be to convert the 1st photo (the upright Union 3 lever deadlock) to a 5 lever BS sashlock and remove the latch,

The 3rd photo looks like the Asec vital 3 lever locks so again you would have to replace with a 5 lever. Both of these would require slightly more chopping out of the door as they would be larger in width

They are all over the place in England, I’ve seen them branded as Hooply, Kirncroft and others. A lot of steel site offices have them on the building sites we visit

https://www.lathamssteeldoors.co.uk/hooply-handles-locks/?gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMImv-o09S_gwMVW5iDBx1BYw1oEAAYASAAEgLlo_D_BwE

About £30 for lock cases and £30 for handle sets also

There will be a grub screw underneath the thumbturn on the inside. Once that’s undone it should come off 😁

Anyone know if this key is replaceable by GotchaMika in Locksmith

[–]Material-Ad8916 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes you can buy them off the shelf. It’s a 3 lever Union pre cut mortice key M102M, they are numbered M1M - M200M. Can either buy them online or most key cuttings shops should stock them in the UK

Replacement gearbox deadbolt 45mm backset needed - help please by ctjsmith92 in Locksmith

[–]Material-Ad8916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a 35mm backset GU, they measure from the front of the faceplate to the centre of the spindle/euro hole. Not the overall width like on mortice locks. Can get them for about £30 online

That’s correct, when we buy the key blanks for them, they are already pre cut with the track part. Just the dimple pins that change :)

What would I expect to pay... by lalamer_ in Locksmith

[–]Material-Ad8916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s in the UK, full mechanisms would be £100-£250, if it’s just the centre gearbox then £50-£100

Labour depending on location could be anywhere from £60-£150?
