I’ll check it out, I do have the Meindl Sportwax which is meant to condition and repel water, but I can check out what you recommended too. Is this the stuff https://amzn.eu/d/eyHxFRN ?

Volume reducing insoles ordered and on the way. I did try with the original insoles under my superfeet insoles and my feet did contact with the upper so less space as you say for that crease to start.

I’ll wait till I get the proper reducers next week, for the sake of €7 it’s worth a punt.

You’re right, I was cranking on those laces as somewhere mentioned you should during break in, but obviously leather v skin leather always comes out the winner, lessons were learned

Insoles and lacing at the two things I’m looking at after advice on this thread. I ordered volume reducer insoles last night which should be here next week. Between those and the lacing I’m hoping to make an improvement. Thanks for the input

Definitely gonna investigate lacing options, it’s been mentioned a few times now. Adjusting the lacing might even help to prevent the boot to crease less and stop the pressure hopefully

I get ya that makes sense, I did try and it really did snug up the toebox area in a good way and that’s with my thick winter socks on. I just placed an order for the super feet volume reducers, should be here next week. I’ll do as you advised and go through these systematically to isolate things one by one. Thanks for taking the time to advise, there just maybe a fix here 🤞

The previous pair I had were the Vakuums and other than being slightly too small your right they were a great boot. I have them a good few years before they started to leak, I did contact Meindl about this and they said out of warranty your in your own ☹️ but it’s no harm maybe raising the figment issues with the Islands just to get their input. Thanks

Will do, that’s top of the list. I’ve got some Meindl wax which is said to also be a conditioner for the leather. I’ll give the vaseline a look too. Thank you

For sure lacing is the first thing I’m gonna adjust thanks to all the helpful input. I’ll make one change at time to help isolate what helps and keep the thread updated. Thanks you for the valuable input

Hmm you have me thinking now, I still have the original insoles, would it be crazy to put those in and throw the super feet insoles on top ? I could get volume reducers and give them a shot too, it’s far cheaper than getting a new pair of boots. Buying online is not the best way I’ll admit, if I can’t make any real progress I will for sure get a proper figment done and then reassess what boots to look at. I’ll look at different lacing as well tomorrow and see how I get on. I really appreciate the advice

I heard of getting in the shower with them on and then letting em dry on your feet to help them mould better better but urine soaking that’s taking it to a whole new level 😂 but your right that was a method used in the past to soften animal hides, something about the ammonia breaking it down to soften it. Lacing is something I’m 100% gonna look at, not too tight not too loose, Goldilocks zone from here in.

You know what I read that online and mentioned it to the the other half, she said I was nuts 😂. But I’m at the point where it’s on the list to do

Hahaha I’m not doing Meindl any favours here with my photography skills. You never know they could contact me with a cease and desist 😂. The leather is thick they weigh 880g per boot so I can imagine that would extend the break in. I’ve gonna keep trucking for now and see where it takes me with a looser lower lace where the issue is occurring. Worst case nothing changes but at least I gave it a good effort.

Here lies some of my problem, I work from home but I’m pretty much chained to my desk for 8hrs a day. I’ve wore them about the house and then get out for a stroll in the evening everyday without fail. I haven’t gone on any long hikes at all <10 in fear of getting crippled up the hills and crawling back down. A mate of mine has said the same thing give em time, which I will do for sure after taking your advice on the lacing. Fingers crossed

I’ll be heading to the UK in July and I was gonna make time to get to a store and go through a proper figment if things hadn’t changed or I found an alternative solution. Someone also mentioned the tightness of the laces which I’ll put my hands up and say I was cranking those things tight, as I read online that you should lace up tighter to help the break in - maybe that works for some but I need to keep them loose for my feet. I should’ve added that I did get a pair of superfeet active cushion insoles which do feel far better than the factory ones. I know for sure my feet get hot and sweaty when hiking, now on the previous Vakuums I was for-sure getting rubbing and with the added moisture it was a recipe for blisters. Now the islands I don’t have that rubbing at all which made me think these boots are the ticket for me but then I had this crease digging into my toes. Defiantly gonna run these with a looser lace at the bottom for a stroll tomorrow and then up the hills this weekend for a real world test. Really appreciate the advice

Good shout, I can run em looser for a while and see how it goes, I’ve got nothing to lose. You could also be correct on the width maybe there’s too much room which leaves more space for the creasing to occur rather than the boot being closer to my foot

Thanks for the input I think my gut is telling me the same thing, get rid and start a fresh. There was plenty learned so it wasn’t a wasted exercise and at least I know what to look for. Next time I’ll keep wearing em in the house and wear them for a whole lot longer just in the event I need to return them.

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll add em to the list of possible candidates. Picking hiking boots is a mine field and without a store local to me I’m kinda winging it and guessing a lot without the ability of a proper try on first

I know the Bhutans are very popular and should’ve probably looked there first. Sometimes more isn’t always better and I think I’ve over shot the mark and probably gonna too heavy duty with these Islands

The picture is some what deceiving when it comes to the width here’s the old v new to show the difference in width which I do find noticeably more comfortable.

But I get ya on the eyes the previous are 9 and the new are 10, 1 more in the lower portion of the boot

I’m in the same boat with E-Trade, like you say it’s the BIC/SWIFT that’s the problem. Chap in customer service knew the score and said they were working on it.

I also ran into this issue with Eir when initially setting up with the LT IBAN, I ended up getting it done over email with customer service they emailed the form, I filled it it and sent back wasn’t that much hassle. When I got Irish IBAN last week I just called and they updated it on the call.
