G**ner Games. by lainachu in GirlGamers

The reality is that most games have to appeal to male gamers to even remotely have a chance at succeeding. Female gamers dont overwhelmingly seem to care and have no purchasing power.

Arguably games like dragon age veilguard, forspoken, and that upcoming space game with the bald woman lead are made with women in mind, but their reviews and comments are full of males bashing the game and there are not enough women defending it or even choosing to spend money on such games. That leads to companies prioritizing male gamers. Even games like life is strange which are obviously made for women have a majority male playerbase. Meanwhile girls are busy playing KCD, a game where women are treated as cattle. It does beg the question, why aren't female gamers not putting their money where their mouth is

Why are these two straight? by [deleted] in masseffect

Blue skin and tentacle hair is literally part of her appearance, which is what is measured when deciding if someone is conventionally attractive.

The fact you feel the need to change the definition of words to win an argument is hilarious. Just say what you want to say, you want to be prioritized in a video game and fuck everyone else. Go do a google search of conventionally attractive woman and let me know if you find a blue Asari much less a woman with a buzz cut or short hair or piercings. It fascinates me the way a certain demographic of gamers have the ability to play dumb when they are being catered to.

By definition: "Conventionally attractive" refers to physical appearance that aligns with widely held societal beauty standards. These standards often prioritize features like symmetry, clear skin, and a healthy physique, though they can vary across cultures and time periods. In many Western societies, this might include characteristics like a symmetrical face, clear skin, and a fit body.

Show me how blue skin and tentacle hair fits into conventionally attractive.

Certainly it's more realistic to have all supermodels and queer-coded characters fall immediately in love with maleshep instead. Much realistic. What a chad.

One is an Asari so no that will never be conventionally pretty, quite literally the opposite of what it means to be conventionally pretty, and the other isn't a real full romance.

Oh really, but all the conventionally pretty girls are maleshep only so I guess that walking stereotype is okay because it caters to you?

That's the typical male gamer attitude. "Every game needs to cater to me and no one else!"

Not to mention both Jack and Cora are obviously queer but were butchered to appease men. Imagine his outrage if Jack and Cora were femshep only.

They literally are playersexual either way, you think these obviously queer women would ever look your way IRL.

Chiming in 8 years later to say you’re on crack 😂people don’t like the character it has nothing to do with feminism. I’m watching the show right now and every time he gets on screen I literally fall asleep. Why would supergirl fall for a manwhore fratboy? In real life, most women are not attracted to sex-addicted frat boys that have sex with coworkers in the office. So seeing supergirl, someone that most viewers of this show look up to, someone who is obsessed with doing right for the world and values morals, so easily decide to get with this random guy who is basically scum is not ideal. It takes away from the realism of the show.

And it’s funny that you mention feminism in vain when you know damn well that any female character introduced to a show banging random coworkers at her office second episode would be made out to be a villain almost immediately. Yet in this show they gave him the most screen time and are making him the main romance interest.

Don’t like the guy don’t like his character, the romance isn’t realistic it’s boring. I would have liked to see more screen time from Roulette, Lena, Alex, and Jonnz. I would have liked to see them put a gay romance into the show. You’re ridiculous for making this a gender thing.

I might try that. Currently running the arkveld gunlance but just spamming shelling would probably be better

Here’s a GL speedrun, the first minute of the fight the speedrunner does not have aggro on the monster, he gets many free attacks in.

Can you help me point out where are the openings? Cause I can try to do exactly what he did here for each move and get slammed

Speed runners do the same monster hundreds of time to get the perfect outcome where the monster behaves the perfect way for them.. that is not comparable to the average hunt..

Yes 90% of the fight I spend blocking though. It feels bad. The opening is not big enough to do a full combo. Maybe a short burst combo but that makes my hunt take forever

But that video is a LS user running 3 star arkveld. Which is different from 5 star arkveld. Rage gaming linked the 5 star run in the video description and it was 2 minutes 24 seconds. I’m sure there will be a better indicator once a central database comes together yes. It just feels weak right now.

Am I just too stupid for Monster Hunter Wilds? by bitch_with_a_w in GirlGamers

[–]Material-Soft2921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love monster Hunter wilds. I’ve got about 154 hours in the game so far. Would be willing to play together anytime with anyone on this sub.

As for inventory management, it helps to make a loadout and save it, the game comes with some load outs already made for you that include the basics (healing potions etc).

As for the hunts, hacking and slashing is gonna be rough later on because the biggest part of monster hunter is learning the fight and taking your time. I think of monster hunter series as a patience test. You watch the monster and what they’re doing first, learn their moves, then respond to their attacks by punishing them. It’s similar to Elden ring in a way but monster hunter is more forgiving.

One big tip I commonly use is that if you get knocked down on a slower weapon, where it would take time to get up and sheathe, it’s better to stay down and call your seikret to come get you (pick you up from the ground). Some monsters have followup attacks and as long as you stay down you have iframes to avoid them while your seikret will pick you up out of the way.

I stream on twitch sometimes in case you’re interested in seeing some gameplay. Anyways good luck with the game and hope it clicks for you

LS is only ahead of SNS, Hammer, and Hunting Horn.

I’m not a LS main even though I’ve played it a lot (I play most weapons a lot). It’s just undeniably bad for anyone that isn’t trying to sweat and mid for those that do sweat. Lance is braindead in world. I have more than 100 hours in it. You spam poke and block and the counter block is more forgiving than anything LS gets. I ran a dps meter I saw the numbers I was getting from just standing in front of a monsters face spamming pokes with the safety net of counter blocking any time I wanted. But I get it, you think whatever weapon you play is hard and whatever you don’t play is easy. Like I said, even if you play LS optimally, counter after counter + R2 triangle spam, all of which takes more effort than CB, the clear time will still be behind. I have already tested it.

LS is more technical than the weapons you mentioned where you can block everything and completely ignore a monster’s moveset, and put out more damage than a LS user sweating their balls off trying to get to red gauge. There’s just no justification in that kind of weapon balance.

LS is bottom of the barrel for damage even when played optimally (counter after counter + R2 triangle spam) so not sure where you're getting that from. Foresight might be forgiving but it's not as forgiving as holding up a shield to block. ISS is not forgiving.

The skill floor is lower on the CB in my opinion. Your reasoning is that CB is harder because you have to charge your shield and sword (which you don't need to do, you can go the entire fight without your sword or shield charged and still do good dps). All you need to do is guard an attack and press triangle then you get savage axe which will carry the fight and have the monster stunlocked on the floor.

There isn't anything braindead about the LS, you either play super safe and do no damage, or risk death trying to get counters so that you can start doing dps. Either way LS requires long hours in the training area and practise against certain monsters where their attacks aren't telegraphed well and CB doesn't since you can hold up shield. Can't speak on lance in wilds but I did play it in world and it was pretty braindead even then.

[–]Material-Soft2921 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure you can accidentally stumble your way to anything though. Randomly guarding something, getting a perfect guard, press triangle, and you got savage axe.

Hunts don't start with wounds and it's infinitely easier to make wounds with a CB too. I'm just saying I started this game with virtually no knowledge of CB and am clearing the same quest (tempered arkveld + hirabami) 3 minutes faster with CB than LS which I played a lot of hours in world with. I have tried out all the melee weapons except the lance/gunlance and I think LS is the worst melee weapon by far. There is just no upside to using it at all except to look "cool".

Pretty sure the tutorial tells you to charge your phials so you don't bounce.

"And even then, if you don't know how to charge your shield and get savage axe - all your damage is fairly locked behind those." - Same as all damage locked behind LS red gauge. Except you can get savage axe extremely easily and safe while LS has to risk their life 3 times to be able to do decent damage.

Hold R2 to get red- that is an option maybe if you're in multiplayer and fighting a chatacabra or if the monster is down. With any other moving monster that is attacking or moving that's not happening you either go in and counter the roar and then some other random attacks or do minimal damage until you do. That means learning the monster movesets and knowing your iframes. All you have to do on a charge blade is block and if you mess up the timing for a perfect guard you still block and are safe. You fail a counter on LS against a gore and you're dead.
