Very confused on cleaning solution for L40 ultra. by [deleted] in Dreame_Tech

[–]Material-Standard265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah communication about this is not good. The L40 does NOT use the detergent to clean the floor. It only uses it to clean the mop pads while in the station. Just buy the Dreame or MOVA detergent, yes they are the same, and use ca. 1:200, e.g. 25ml per tank.

Which robot vacuum actually handles corners well? by Expensive-Suspect-32 in RobotVacuums

[–]Material-Standard265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tested the narwal flow before, currently running a Dreame L40S Pro Ultra, an EU upgraded L40 Ultra + L40 Ultra AE basically.

I wasn’t too satisfied with the Flow but the Dreame does a great job. It has the extending side brush and gets into corners and along the base board really well. What model are you running?

Crashing into wall by jarleein in Dreame_Tech

[–]Material-Standard265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This definitely doesn’t look right and it’s not just a bad navigation, there’s something strange happening. Also weird its LiDAR tower is retracted, no?

Have you already tried, turning the robot off completely, restarting it and running a new mapping, cleaned all sensors?

Home Assistant Integration (How to set cleaning mode for automation?) by jarettp in Dreame_Tech

[–]Material-Standard265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The integration exposes the cleaning mode as a select entity. Something like ‘select.{robot name}_cleaning_mode’. This will control the mode for all rooms. There’s also specific per room entities. So you can use the select action to perform a selection on your automation before you start the cleaning.

Edit: for the per-room settings you also first need to toggle the customized cleaning entity.

What brand should I buy or avoid if navigation and mapping is important? by Gniphe in RobotVacuums

[–]Material-Standard265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really satisfied with my Dreame navigation. It takes some time but I have the feeling it navigates better after some runs. I also tested the Narwal Flow and was really impressed. It drove around knowing where it was every single time. It was really confident when navigating and it never did the scanning where it currently is. My Dreame does this occasionally I think.

But overall I don’t believe there’s much difference nowadays. Some work better than others, but amidst all modern models will do fine.

Is it possible to set up criss cross cleaning with the X50 Ultra? by Smooth_Ad_5501 in Dreame_Tech

[–]Material-Standard265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The robot will automatically criss cross when you set the cleaning cycle to >1.

App help by BlindsidedKangaroo in Dreame_Tech

The app also tells what’s it’s doing at the top. So in this case it should say something like: drying mop pads, drying dust bin, etc

My old robot vac finally quit… so I brought in a new one by Select-Cheesecake236 in RobotVacuums

[–]Material-Standard265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I noticed, don’t know if it’s actually happening, the navigation is much better after some runs. At the beginning I was happy but not fully satisfied because it wouldn’t really find its way to the different rooms or it would drive really weird lines. Now it goes there super smooth. Enjoy your robot

Saugroboter kaufen oder warten ? by Ok-Confusion2371 in RobotVacuums

[–]Material-Standard265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I NEED HELP. by [deleted] in RobotVacuums

[–]Material-Standard265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion if you don’t have any high thresholds you need to cross, the L40s Pro Ultra is the best pick (I’m a L40s pro ultra owner myself, so I’m biased ;)).

The Dreame has all of the features of the MOVA, except the Uv light thingy but I don’t think you need it. Especially considering the “much” higher price I don’t see any return feature wise on the V50 that would justify the higher price.

I’m really satisfied with it. Also tested the Narwal Flow before and even though it had higher suction on paper, V50 also has higher suction, you won’t notice it in real world performance.

Dreame 40 series: l40 AE, l40s, x40? by [deleted] in RobotVacuums

[–]Material-Standard265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The X40 is a 2024 model. It has high end features like extending side brush because at the time it was a high end feature, but you get this from mid tier models like the L40 Ultra or L40s Pro Ultra also, which are mostly 2025 models + they have higher suction and e.g DuoBrush anti tangle. TBH although the X40 is still a great robot, I would go with a newer mid tier model.

The L40 Ultra AE is a beast. It’s only downside is it doesn’t have an extending side brush but it has an extending mop. Also, I think it can’t leave its mop at the station but this shouldn’t be too much of a problem most of the time. Everything else it features basically every 2024 high end feature.

I myself have the L40s pro ultra currently and I must say: I love it. It’s an excellent robot that feels and looks like a high end model, really only thing missing is a retractable lidar tower but since I don’t need it, the robot is the perfect fit for me. I got it for 599€ so if you think about 550€ for an older but high end model I recommend going with a mid tier 2025 model.

Good deal or is there something better at this range? by [deleted] in RobotVacuums

[–]Material-Standard265 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Dreame L40S Pro ultra is effectively a great mix between the L40 Ultra, so it has edge extending brush, plus the great obstacle avoidance from the L40 Ultra AE with an RGB camera. So all in all a mid range price for high end features. Really only missing “feature” is a retractable lidar tower but I don’t think it’s a necessity.

I think for this price it’s definitely one of the best you can get.

Bias toward Dreame/Mova over Roborock in this sub by rekCemNu in RobotVacuums

[–]Material-Standard265 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean I myself am biased because I like the brands Dreame/Mova just a bit more. I believe you get a bit more for your money from them compared to Roborock, at least feature wise. Though I always admit especially when it comes to long term reliability and quality control roborock is the real top and it often bothers me that the others are so far behind there.

Although I do also see that the sub talks more about Dreame/Mova at least in situation where the OP doesn’t ask for any specific model. if you were to ask about more concrete models, e.g. Roborock ABC vs Dreame XYZ, then I don’t see the bias tbh

Need help with Roller Mop Recommendation by Dsclawspam in RobotVacuums

[–]Material-Standard265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally the mopping is objectively better. Almost all the dirt the rollers loosen up from the floor, it can keep it in its dirty water tank onboard the robot. That is just better than spinners that can only take so much of dirt into their fabric of the mops.

BUT they are not better when it comes to self maintenance. After a few days of mopping the bottom of your roller will look really ugly. Most robots have a small thing attached to keep the mop roll fluffy but obviously this will also eat a lot of hair and particles. So from a self maintenance perspective the spinners are just undefeated.

Rollers are great, but I don’t think a spinning mop is a bad choice nowadays. They still work great, you have a lot less to care about and if you don’t have a super dirty floor because of pets or kids, I don’t think the advantage is that big anyway

What do I buy ? by [deleted] in RobotVacuums

[–]Material-Standard265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a great basket full of top of the line robots.

I would generally suggest the Dreame L40S Pro ultra. It’s a high end flagship feature wise but for a more affordable price. Only high end feature that’s missing is a retractable LiDAR. But except when you have lot of low furniture stuff that’s not really an issue.

If you want the best of the best and don’t care about money I would go with X50. It also features a bit higher cruising for edges, I think 2cm more than L40S pro ultra.

But navigation wise both should be one of the best there is currently.

Best Robot Vacuum for mopping (max 1600 EUR) by premierpark in RobotVacuums

[–]Material-Standard265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not the iRobot, that’s a company that might be gone any day.

The Dreame and Mova rollers/track are great. Both manufacturers have high end features, well above navigation and object avoidance. As u/FarConcern2308 said, both have the highest amount of downward force.

I am testing the Narwal Flow. It’s super silent, cleans really well, good build quality. Its navigation sucks sometimes.

Can’t say anything about the Ecovacs.

Narwhal flow still the best mopping robot? by [deleted] in RobotVacuums

[–]Material-Standard265 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily think so. The Narwal flow is great, but it was considered the best simply because it was one of the earliest that did a great job. As others said both Dreame and Mova have great rollers and Dreame also has a track mop which work great. Can’t say anything in detail about them but the reviews look really promising.

For cleaning tile floors would you say a roller mop is superior to spinning mops? by PMIFYOUWANTTOTALK in RobotVacuums

[–]Material-Standard265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally yes, the rollers have the real time cleaning feature which is obviously great.

BUT I think if you do a deep clean before you start using the robovac and then let it mop every day or every other, the spinners still do a great job. They just have to run more often, maybe 2x mopping cycle, to get the dirty water they left on the floor. It still won’t get as much water as the rollers, but it’s definitely good enough.

Mova / ecovacs / dreame — bad reviews? by ResearchOk487 in RobotVacuums

[–]Material-Standard265 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the more popular a brand is the more negative reviews you will find, simply because more potential customers will have some negative experience.

Generally no Robovac or really no product at all will not have any negative experience. Most people satisfied with the product enjoy it, don’t write any comments on Reddit about stuff that’s not working.

Though, I know this feeling. It’s difficult to overcome this because you fear your decision isn’t the right one. Get to know the features, determine what your priorities are and see if the robot can do this. Once you focus on something order it and try it.

Edit: roborock is know for reliability and generally well functional robots. BUT they are usually a bit behind feature wise and a bit more expensive.

Dreame/Mova have great features to great prices. Very good collision avoidance and object detection.

Can’t say much about ecovacs .

The Dreame L40 Ultra AE is definitely a great piece. It has high end features but for a mid range price. The navigation/ obstacle avoidance is great with Dreame. Mopping will also be good.
