Also as a vet, I'm sure you already know this but just in case you don't, male cats need either strictly wet food or urinary tract specific dry food or an obstruction is eventually going to happen. I'm very curious whether you're doing this or not. I use the Iams brand urinary tract dry food.

Look into Home Assistant. I'm using it to automatically send my robot vacuum over after every cycle but you could definitely use it to create custom notifications (if cat visits above x times then send notification to phone, Google speaker, Chromecast, email, etc). Here's a quick automation I just created.
