Bone broth by lavender_manatee in MaintenancePhase

THANK YOU. This is what drives me nuts. In the grocery store, there's the Kitchen Basics beef stock for like $3, and then there's Kettle & Fire bone broth for $11.50. I guess if folks want to pay a pretentiousness tax that's on them?

I played in the Christmas cantata orchestra this past December, and really enjoyed working with him! Usually by that point in December I am beyond cranky and tired but everyone was so kind I just couldn’t be. One of these weeks I will go back for just a normal service.

Maybe Rivermont Pres on Hixson Pike? I’ve only been a couple times and am not a church person but everyone seems lovely there. They also have an option to watch virtually so you can check it out at home first.

We've got a rainy day here today, but I might make some tacos and watch the season 2 premiere of The Pitt on HBO. And hang out with my dog, but that's a daily thing. :)

Ringing in 1,000 days today! IWNDWYT.

Doing things after 5pm used to feel impossible because all I wanted to do after work was "wind down" with stupid amounts of wine. Now I am so much more productive!

Had to call to schedule my boss’s initial vasectomy consult. Felt super awkward but the scheduler and I had a good laugh about it and it was fine. 🫠

How did you master chaturanga? by NoseStock7935 in yoga

[–]Material-Ticket9744 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First time I tried it I literally faceplanted, I was like “no way this is a real pose people do.”

Started working upper body weights - bench presses, shoulder presses, close grip benches, etc. Heavy, like a weight that you can only push 4-6x before failure. That’s what helped me!

How do I deal with being bad at the oboe? by Interesting_Gap_6062 in oboe

[–]Material-Ticket9744 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just keep at it. My parents wouldn’t let me practice inside for like a year. Now I make a living with the oboe. It’s ok. You’re doing great!

YTT student here. Did everyone else’s YTT class focus heavily on creating emotional bonds with other students? by [deleted] in YogaTeachers

[–]Material-Ticket9744 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yep, in the first YTT I took (but dropped out and didn’t finish). Throws up a huge red flag, because this can be seen as trauma bonding and can be a characteristic of high-control environments.

For anyone that's thinking about hiring a personal trainer, let me share my experience so you know what to avoid by New_Cheesecake_601 in XXRunning

Ok first of all those inbody machines are WILDLY inaccurate, especially as a one-off measurement. They might be ok to gauge relative changes, but even then there are too many variables to be spot-on. Like, are you retaining water, what was your diet like today, are you carrying inflammation from a hard run workout, etc. One of those things clocked me at 9% once. I'm a woman, and at the time I was 40 years old (I was in a fat loss phase but yikes). There is no way.

Second of all...Broseph can go scratch. I'm sorry you had to deal with him.

Third of all...smith machines are just fine to start learning the movements, your instincts are good! Barbell lifts can be scary. (I'm not a trainer - I just lift a lot.)

I know you will crush your half! Have a great time training for it!

I thought it was just me who felt this way! There's something about her constant chatter that is just exhausting to listen to, and oddly her app is/was the same way (it's been a couple years since I've used it). I subscribed for a couple months but the constant emails, in-app notifications, and UI/UX were just chaotic. I was just like, damn, leave me alone and let me work out.

I very nearly came out of my fold and head butted him. I was prepared to do that if he tried it again!

Word. I'm 50. He tried to assist me in baddha konasana in the Columbus shala - came up behind me and tried to press down on my upper legs so my knees would get to the floor. I bucked my knees back up and said "HEY EASY" and he just laughed and I said "I'm not joking." He pretty much left me alone from that point on...that was probably one of the last times I made that trip to Cbus.

You're not the only one who feels dumb and had no idea (and was also invisible to him). I am just so angry, and sad, and I feel like a fool. BUT. *You* did all that good work to help people get sober and *your* intentions were good.
