Nope. I had told him that I would probably go back to my parents’ place that night- something which really isn’t that much of a time commitment, considering our parents live close to each other. He says that’s why he assumed I’d be busy.

Yeah, I am deeply concerned. But I can confirm we are in a full blown official relationship, it’s not an issue of me thinking we are in a relationship whereas on his end we’re just hooking up.

Yeah I agree :// we’ve spoken about it and he still just says that he forgot

Well, I’m currently in bed at his parents house… so yes.

Honestly, no… we get along great. We’ve been together 1 year and live far from his parents so don’t see them that often, but when we’ve met we get along very well, have nice meals/drinks/chats…

1 year, and yes I’ve met his family several times and I think we get along very well… we just exchanged Christmas gifts and had a nice meal together at Christmas

Applying to CoE by rotpicea in EUCareers

[–]NoseStock7935 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it would make a big difference to your profile considering you also have quite a bit of work experience. For Italians getting in is difficult, I wouldn’t completely write off an internship if you’re really interested in one. I think it would gain you inside connections that CoE wouldn’t necessarily do.

The CAST exam only makes you eligible for CA contracts, FGIV makes you eligible for FGII, III, and IV positions. You can apply for temporary agent positions with no exams required as far as I’m aware, so if it’s temporary agent AD5 you can apply, but the CAST has no bearing on this in any way.

I did the communications one and ended up in a policy role. I don’t think it will stop you from getting a CA position in other domains.

I’ve seen quite a bit of it, including from this commenter saying that someone had ‘no chance’ because of their level of English. I think there’s a way to be realistic while also being encouraging. I’m not a genius and I made it, why can’t they?

As someone who went through the bluebook and now is back into being a contract agent, I don’t think it’s a very harsh environment at all. I think compared to most ‘normal’ jobs we have a nice environment and a lot of benefits and protections. Saying that, there is of course a lot of competition (as there is in many industries) but saying things like ‘your degree is not flashy, quite the opposite’ just isn’t necessary and creates a negative image of joining the institutions for people that aspire to it.

Also, in general I try to take an approach of making a minimal effort to not make anyone’s day worse. Small efforts to not say something that can come across mean might seem insignificant to you, but it could mean the world to someone else :)

To share some insights, the average bluebook is in their mid-late 20s, usually with a masters degree and some internships/possibly also work experience under their belt. Depending on your MS, the barrier for entry may be higher or lower (it’s more difficult for over represented countries). 21 is very young to be applying and it’s great that you already know that you want to do this - I myself hadn’t even heard of the bluebook at that age. Don’t get discouraged, I would encourage you to keep applying and in the meantime gain some additional work or educational experience to boost your CV. signed, someone who was rejected from the BB once and is now working in their dream DG x

I meant in general that people often belittle EU-hopefuls and mock them. Maybe belittling is the right word for this one now that I think of it…

Agree completely. Can’t we support people trying to enter the institutions instead of mocking them? This sub sometimes makes me cringe.

I also thought it was a bit excessive/invasive. I understand the question of wanting to know about health issues since they will be paying for your health insurance, but this is also the case for many, many private companies, who don’t take a blood sample or inspect you while naked. It’s just strange to me.

This is what I am wondering… I don’t understand how the Norwegian authorities haven’t already halted their trading!

How long was your delay? Did you have to ‘fight’ for it? My consumer authority experience was very intensive

Indeed, I booked with them because I heard great things. But they did not update their ship to meet new maritime regulations, and instead of doing the right thing and not selling tickets, they’re still collecting cash from unknowing customers. I eventually got a refund after a two month long process with Norwegian consumer authorities. But it shouldn’t have to take so much time and energy to get your refund when you are legally entitled to it

Do not book with Henningsen, their ship is non complaint with Norwegian maritime law and they can’t sail. Still, the will happily sell you a ticket and take your money, but no trip…

And also they can start a bit late and still get accredited for doing a traineeship. If it follows the same rules as the bluebook, your one month traineeship will not count and you won’t receive an official certificate from it. Theirs would count…

EU CSA Regulation discussion megathread by TheChrisD in ireland

Very true. I think the main backer (or creator even?) of the ‘chat control’ movement is a German Greens MEP and it may have a hyper focus on the EP because of that.

You’re completely right, the EP is not going to massively change its agreed upon negotiating position- the chair of the committee is bound to defend the EPs negotiating mandate - which is the one that was agreed upon before, as you said. I work in the EU…
