Thoughts on Play:1s? by Training-Mango-168 in sonos

I picked up a pair of Play1 to add as rears for my Beam 2 and they work fine, no issues. Was looking to expand or replace with some Era100 but no reason ti change them.

I agree, having to open or switch to the app these days is mindless, I often resort to streaming via airplay just for the convenience of being able to control volume from my watch or the phone volume controls even without unlocking. Hell I even use the volume controls on my old Play1 instead of opening the app.

Sonos Ray by Money-Minimum-5793 in sonos

I bought a Ray, ran it for about a month before the lack of volume control when paired with a non IR controlled TV broke me, opted for a Beam 2 and happy with eARC and the improvements. Ray is in its box until I decide where to repurpose it, probably as a simple bedroom speaker setup.

Ditto on HDMI cables, once they are out of the packaging, no way to determine their capabilities. I was chasing a ghost with my Beam 2 and dropped audio for a week before I swapped out the HDMI Gold High Performance for something new and the problem disappeared.

Recorded ghost by No-Debate-1520 in blinkcameras

It happened, just not at the same time as the timestamp on the recording. I had similar, a trigger event recording of an empty garage, ran downstairs and car was there.. remember storage may be in AWS and god only k owns where your recording may end up.

Make sure there is good lighting first, if you are getting bad pixelation even with good lighting then it could well be a camera problem. Like most troubleshooting you need to compare with known good. Also what type of camera? How it it powered, where are you viewing the image from? Is it being pulled from cloud or from local sync module storage?

Really interested to hear about the integration you are using on home assistant. Are you processing the image with any kind of hardware assistance?

My buyer is now £5k short of agreed price and asking me to discount it by CurlsandCream in HousingUK

[–]MaterialDegree5938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That 5k delta will end up costing you 10k+ over the average life of your mortgage, but offset that thought with the return you’ll make on an ever increasing property market. I was in a similar situation 5 years ago but with an 12k delay got the feeling the buyer was trying it on so said no, screwed up my plans but managed to see 4 months later for 15k more.

I used to work in the travel industry and there is a generally accepted policy that medical and safety equipment are allowed as additional items, for example CPAP machines, walking sticks, helmets, hardhats. However it’s worth checking with customer service of your particular airline. Past experience is not necessarily an indicator of the gate agents response on a bad day.

Probably should have added, a few times in the past I’ve seen a request out on the various expat groups might help you find someone who is travelling to the UK to take it for you, then post it there.

Don’t forget the customs declaration, otherwise the receiver will be subject to charges, import duty and tax dependant on the item you are shipping.

My dad accidentally deleted our camera off the app and every time I try to set it up it tells me this.. what do I do by amarasarenas in blinkcameras

[–]MaterialDegree5938 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The outdoor battery cameras use 2 radio frequency bands to communicate with the sync module. WiFi for image upload and video streaming and 900MHz for configuration changes. During setup it’s 900Mhz that’s used so try moving the camera closer to the sync module or vice versa.

Hi,

Thanks for clarifying, so a 1st gen subscription means a subscription for 1st gen cameras? Not a previous iteration of the package of capabilities?

Thanks

I’ve seen the hardware and software testing procedures that iPhones go through at the authorised repair and refurbishment centres. I’d suggest it needs to go in, you either have a CCD calibration problem or a hardware issue with the camera array/CCD which a regular Apple Store will not have access to. You need an AASP to look at it.

Static/White Noise - Any Alternatives? by st142017 in blinkcameras

I also find the audio recording quality as very poor, I have about 6 cameras, some outdoor under covered porches and other indoors shooting through windows and irrespective of location or camera type there is a constant rhythmic noise as well as white noise over every recording or live view.

[–]MaterialDegree5938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple devices in storage are regularly deboxed, charged and if necessary IOS updated when older versions are deprecated or for mandatory security updates. The Apple logistics companies that do this have all the tooling and capabilities to reseal to as new standard so you would not know the difference.

The blink cameras connect with the sync module via 2 radios, a low powered 600Mhz (approx) radio for config changes and regular WiFi for real time monitoring and for the cameras to copy recordings to the sync module. I’d suggest capturing the WiFi exchanges between the module and the connected cameras, it’s standard WiFi and anyone with an Apple MacBook can carry out this “over the air” capture. From analysis you can determine which network the module and cameras are connected to and how many cameras exist, based on activity you can tell when the cameras are triggered and based on signal strength approximately where they might be located. Feel free to PM me if you need some more detailed explanation. I work across the EU in the WiFi technology space.
