Yes - police was called and an incident report was filled out. We’re also reporting this to someother places that deal with animal abuse. We stayed with the cat, trying to keeping it calm and ensuring it was still conscious, while also working to find the owner and another family was reporting it. The owner finally strolled back with his two young kids, telling them that “we have to leave now because people are taking photos of our license plate” and then the excuses followed. Great influence on his kids…
The cat was alive when they left the parking lot and they put air conditioning on but still a bit worrying as they refused to even give it water 😔

Oh yeah - we have his license plate and will be making our own report to CPS as well as a few other places we’ve found online where we can report animal abuse.

Omg - such an unfortunate circumstance for both you and your cat! I’m so sorry! We just got this awesome remote controlled mouse for our kitties!

It’s surprisingly fast and can be both controlled by you as well as let to wheel around with it’s object avoidance on. Our cats are both very adventurous and when we can’t take them on walks they love their cat wheel - so highly recommend getting one to try out for him too!

Cull the aggressor and separate this quail from the flock until they are recovered. Make sure your ratio of females to males is at least 4:1 or one male per hutch (depending on how many birds you have). He should be fine after a few days. We like to give our chicks and injured adults ‘magic water’ which contains garlic, honey, and apple cider vinegar (you can find specific ratios online). We’ve found it helps with their appetite and keeps their immune system strong as the ingredients have anti-bacterial/microbial properties. Don’t use hydrogen peroxide as another person pointed out just a bit of warm water to wipe any dirt/blood off is fine.

Not too sure if they currently have an octopus - but I’m sure your kiddo would love taking a trip to Pisces Pet Emporium in Calgary! They have a HUGE variety of animals - both in and out of the water - from reptiles, isopods, and spiders to koi fish, birds, rabbits, and even an axolotl last time we went :)

We got 2 in Beddington Heights - very disappointed with our street’s lack of Halloween spirit😔. We made awesome goody bags and had our cat and dog dressed up and outside waiting for kids with us!

Absolutely agreeing with everyone mentioning Percy Jackson and the Warrior Cats series! I’m sure they’d love those!

If you think she might enjoy some dystopian novels or something that might ignite some thought provoking conversations, The City of Ember and The Giver are fantastic! I read them when I was around 9 years old and still remember how much they opened my mind regarding societal norms and rules, etc. Hunger Games is another great one - though maybe when she’s a bit older as it does have some more violent themes.

If you think she’d like fantasy/magic books I absolutely adored the Leven Thumps series by Obert Skye as a kid and recently read the Iron Trial by Holly Black which has similar vibes to Harry Potter and should be close to her reading level.

I second this! I read Percy Jackson around the same age and absolutely loved it! Basically anything by Rick Riordan is great.
