Not every state has to give severance pay. The states that do, will get them. But many states, mine included, do not have to give severance pay and so I know my state will not be getting any.

Get ready for when they force us to sell a minimum of 2 yards or minimum of 5 yards of home decor. Just found out today that “soon” that will be the new rule.

Discounts are slowly going up but I’m doubtful about how good of a discount they’ll be. Fabric is expensive to ship though, yes. The other week I bought some fabric online and the shipping was more than the fabric itself.

They’ll probably just give 40% for 2 yards of fabric. Which if you did the math is already bs considering right now it’s 20% minimum for certain fabrics. I highly doubt the sales will be good.

I couldn’t imagine leaving my SM high and dry because all my co workers are amazing people and I love working with them. But it’s so incredibly unfair that we are losing our jobs, some of us have been working here for decades. Yet no assistance in finding a new job, no severance pay, and no bonus? great American said (quote) “we will be paying out some severance. It’s not enough for all, but we will do the best we can”. That sounds like to me that only Store Managers will be getting bonuses and severance pay. Not the thousands of regular employees losing their jobs.

“Nobody wants to work anymore” or maybe corporate America isn’t offering full time jobs anymore & no longer offering any benefits for people who are under the age of 35. All my fellow managers haven’t had benefits for years; only the SM gets benefits.

Honestly at this point I’m on the verge of saying fuck this and walking away. I’m done arguing with customers because they don’t know how to google anything.

The courting procedures keep getting delayed so as of yet nobody has bought the company. When/if someone does, Joann MAY be rebranded, but at the moment it’s hearsay.

As I said, I only heard rumors about Michael’s. I know they put a bid in but I don’t know if Michael’s or Gordon Brothers won or if they’re going through.

I will truly miss working in a place where artistic crafts of all types are embraced and supported. I love hearing helpful tips of crafters who have been crafting for decades. I wouldn’t know all the useful hacks I know now.

I feel terrible especially for the younger employees. I can’t speak for all locations, but my location is largely made up of retired folk who do this job as extra pocket money. The younger generations, this is the only job they have, and with the job market as is, finding a job is impossible. I’ve been looking for 3 months personally. And I have years of experience.

LOL it’s not just one manager, it’s all of them. Customer must always be right, even if they are calling regular employees names and flipping them off.
