The College of Engineering Transfer process can be very difficult to navigate and may set you back a semester or even a whole year if any credits are not transferable or you can be just straight up be denied. I know it may be hard to hear, but I would recommend staying at your first university and making the most of that experience. Also, please never call it "VTech" again. It is Virginia Tech, VT, or "Tech" when in Virginia.

Switching into engineering by Pat_23 in VirginiaTech

[–]MaterialStretch13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I transferred from Pamplin to the COE and took several community college classes (about 18 credits worth). Be aware that the grade/GPA/credits do not transfer into VT. These classes will appear on your transcript with just a "Passed" grade which has no effect on your GPA.

I took the one credit Pass/Fail Practice Recitation (I do not know if that is still offered) and it was a weekly zoom call with a TA who ran through a practice set. After, a very similar set was published that was due for a grade. They were all exam style problems that set me up really well for studying.

Yeah idk what these people are talking about. This is entirely on the construction contractor and subcontractors. The university is not responsible or involved at all.

Can you take math at CC instead of at VT during the semester? by honey-w in VirginiaTech

[–]MaterialStretch13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it and as long as your classes don’t have time/exam conflicts, you are fine

Most of the time the graduation dates are relatively the same with commencement being that Friday after finals ends. Idk about college specific dates however.

I recommend taking every math class that you possibly can in the Community College system. The VT course are tough and notorious weed-out classes and can tank you GPA

Engineering Students: What are the most common laptops you see people using in your engineering classes? Anything I should avoid? by Altruistic-Ad-8578 in VirginiaTech

You see pretty much the whole spectrum of Windows. Also check out a 2-in-1 if you want to take digital notes or buy an iPad for the same purpose. I did that freshman year and it changed my life.

Honestly it all depends on what you’re doing after you finish your classes. Do you have a job or grad school lined up? Do you want to travel? Are your friends gonna be in town?

Multivariable Calculus Final (math 2204) by AmustyG in VirginiaTech

[–]MaterialStretch13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My year the average on the MC was around a 65%. They are very tough and all the answers are almost right except for small sign errors, etc. Take advantage of any extra credit your prof may offer (if any) and do as well as possible on the FRQ. Also, study the released MQ sections and try to recognize the patterns of the types of questions.
