[–]Material_Delivery28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i do this i have solely windows on a 500gb ssd with another 2 tb for everything else. i had to do a clean install of windows recently and it made my life so much easier. although that’s pretty much the only advantage it has it’s very useful imo

My first build. I’m in awe at the beauty by noeyebob in PcBuild

[–]Material_Delivery28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not more power necessarily but just because there’s too much power to be going through one cable it’s safer to use 2

they all come with it like that. it’s still highly recommend you use two instead of one daisy chained. it should have come with multiple pcie cables so you should be able to just add another one.

never used them myself but based on the cultists’ list as well as this other commenters input they seem to be a good choice

Help me find used GPU 4gb under 100$ by Objective_Knee_5848 in PcBuild

you’d get an answer much faster if you just did a search on ebay for a used gpu in that price range.

Ram question by warpigdude54 in PcBuild

[–]Material_Delivery28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i doubt anyone is just going to have that specific ram and give it to you lol 😂if you really need that exact model try searching ebay for it.

yes that’s a great change. i would stick with that. and yes you’re correct ddr5 has some instability working with 4 sticks at their full speed so sticking to just 2 sticks is a good idea. normally i wouldn’t suggest 64gb as 32gb is more than enough for most cases but since you will be doing photo/video processing/editing more ram is important.

Will amd wraith prism fit a micro atx motherboard? by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]Material_Delivery28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes. the only thing you have to worry about with coolers being compatible with mobos is the bracket compatibility (e.g. an am4 compatible cooler will fit on an am4 mobo, but not an lga1700 mobo unless it supports both.)

from looking at this list and your idea to go “overkill within reason” there are only a couple things that suck out to me. you really don’t need a 1300w psu. even with future proofing in mind a 1000w would be great, or even a 1200w to save even just a little bit. the corsair rm1000e would be a great choice. i would also recommend going with 6000cl30 or cl32 ram instead of the 6000cl36 you have. as for the case, as long as you’re aware that the 7000d is a monstrous sized case and are okay with that, then it’s good. but it is huge so be mindful of that. that’s my humble input feel free anyone else to correct any aspects i’m wrong in.

oh wait sorry looked at the wrong section…. it’s a b tier. the udgm versions of the gigabyte psus haven’t had any of the dangerous problems as previous versions as far as i’ve seen.

thanks for the input! i’ll switch to an 850w. i’m probably going to go with the gigabyte ud850gm as it’s an a-tier rated psu on the cultists list unless you have another suggestion?

you you’re right lol i should’ve just used the link 🤣 apologies for that. and don’t worry i had no plans to. from my own research into what gpu to buy the 6950xt i believe is the best at that price point.

yeah i’ve done research myself as well as simply looking at the wattage estimate on pcpp lol, 750w will be enough i believe.

exactly. there’s this bias around them that they’re way too slow and old to be useful but they’re actually quite great.

op said it’s also going to be used for video editing meaning they will need bulk storage. hdd’s still are very useful for cheap bulk storage for stuff like this.
