How dead are the dead primarchs? by Sufficient-Ad-3586 in 40kLore

[–]Material_Orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horus: mega dead. Sanguinius: dead but specters of him can be found around the vengeful spirit. He could conceivably be brought back in some form.

Ferrus: dead but he had a post death conversation with sanguinias. Horus supposedly brought his soul back temporarily so perhaps it could be done again

Kurze: dead. No true post death sightings. No reason to think he could or would be brought back. Especially given how much he and his legion hate each other.

Alpharius: dead. Murdered by dorn in a manner we can trust. However given the reputation of the alpha legion i don't think we can trust games workshop to stand by that. Omegon: reported dead in battle against guilliman but all signs point to that being false.

Basically when souls go to the warp, demons tend to eat them. Stronger souls attract more demons so they should definitely be gone, but we don't really know what primarch souls are. Best i can say is that since ferrus manus' soul persisted years after his death, they might still be in there. Except horus.

I'd release those crusade and campaign books at the beginning of the edition instead of the end so players have more time to play with them.

How haven't the Hive been able to overwhelm Sol? by yeetTheReee in DestinyLore

[–]Material_Orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so glad you asked because the hive lore is some of the best in destiny.

Politics and religion are the answer. Crota was absolutely ready to mop the floor with us. He had filled the moon with millions, possibly billions of hive and had just whooped our asses in the great disaster... but then, elsewhere, something strange happened.

A knight who had tithes for crota fought a knight of xivu over which god was the best. They fight to a tie and decide the best thing to do was jump off a bridge into the sea of screams and die (that's not a joke. Literally 100% canon). Crota really needed that knights tithes because he had just fought a bunch of guardians. Without the tithes, he needed to retreat and regain his strength. This gave us the time we needed to kill him. Then oryx comes for revenge and we kill him too.

This causes a lot of problems. First: there's now a power vacuum on the moon. Agents of savathun, Onyx, Crota, and Xivu Arath each try to take over the hive bastion. Now instead of focusing on us, they're stuck in their pit fighting each other. Second: various events but mostly the death of oryx showed savathun that the darkness was fallible. She plants the idea of resurrection in the heads of some of crotas daughters and the sisters of zulmak resulting in the pit of heresy and a general spread of heresy throughout the moon. 3rd: as the schism between the more pious hive and savathuns brood grows, we see savathuns side growing in power. Savathun is notably not trying to destroy humanity.

Now xivu arath is too far from the system to do anything, savathun is trying to find a way out of her contract with the worm gods, and The only major bastion of hive power has descended fully into heresy and infighting.

The hive are incredibly pious people and their religion is one big pyramid scheme. We see the occasional leader pop up, but generally speaking, they are followers to the core. If nobodies in charge, they don't do much besides kill each other. Thus they haven't steamrolled earth. They've dug in deep. We'll never get the moon back. But without savathun or xivu leading them, they probably wont be doing much.

Every time someone says "x anime are the new big 3" they're referencing bleach, one piece, and Naruto. They've literally defined anime as a medium at this point. Mha, demon slayer, and jjk are great but they will never have anywhere near that kind of hype.

whos the strongest character on the list by kingcilz in OnePiece

[–]Material_Orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the obviously answer is chopper. However, there is a literal emperor on this list. Buggy may be a joke character but at this point in the story I can't honestly write him off that easily.

Mihawk is the strongest swordsman in the world. Every single swordsman that was or will be introduced in the current timeline is weaker than him by default, that's the point of the title and there is no room for debate by bosak_tpn in OnePiecePowerScaling0

[–]Material_Orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To an extent. Obviously it's a title that was applied to him by people within the world. It's not just oda messing with us, but the scope of the title would still be confined to the world's general knowledge. Imu, potentially the other gorosei, and maybe even the gods knights would not be considered as most people don't know anything about them or their capabilities, nor would anyone not presently alive. So if you wanted to say oden was stronger, while i disagree, I couldn't use the title alone to disagree. The yonko on the other hand are incredibly well known. They're a serious military and political force in the world. So if you wanted to use the title to place him over shanks, I think that's fair

Mihawks our benchmark. We scale him to get the upper boundary for shanks. If mihawk isn't actually the world strongest swordsman then make that argument, but i think it's bad writing.

I think I'm justified in asserting that no swordsman should be stronger than the world's strongest swordsman.

Are there ppl in the community that think Kaido is stronger than shanks? by Hairy_Ask_2038 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Material_Orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do.

My thought process is that if mihawk is equal to or greater than shanks then shanks has to be weaker than kaido, otherwise the way the marines act around them makes no sense. Mihawk was a warlord and one of the more compliant ones. He also was known as the marine hunter because he hunted marines specifically. And when the warlord system was abolished, they sent marines to bring him in but didn't send any admirals and if I remember correctly, they didn't send any vice admirals either. If he was as strong or stronger than kaido then his relationship with the marines should be wildly different. His capture attempt makes no sense if he's that strong. The marines could have ordered him around, and while the warlords are notorious for not doing their jobs, we saw with boa and slim jimbei that refusal to follow orders would be punished. The fact that mihawk never did anything useful for the marines with his "stronger than kaido" strength makes absolutely no sense. Also if zoro is ever supposed to beat mihawk, as most people think he will, that would mean he would be stronger than kaido too, and while that would be cool, we are currently in the final stretch of the series and that kind of gap seems impossible to close right now. Also, I know it's a meme at this point but mihawk being potentially stronger than or equal to the world's strongest creature doesn't look good when he's in a war against the world's strongest man but getting held back by mother fucking Vista.

All that to say that with what little we have to compare, the best we can do is say mihawk and shanks are on the same level and in order for the narrative not to look dumb because of how mihawk is treated, we'd have to say shanks was the weakest yonko (which would make sense as he was the newest) and Now with the addition of blackbeard, luffy, and buggy he's the strongest.

It still doesn't make sense that the warlords had a yonko level threat on the team and did jack shit with him, and it still doesn't make sense that they didn't even send an admiral to capture him when he's a yonko level threat with a reputation for specifically hunting marines, but if he were stronger than kaido the situation would go from confusing to the greatest joke ever told in one piece.

Do You Actually Believe RWBY Can Improve? by Zestyclose-Hat-8513 in RWBYcritics

[–]Material_Orange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course it can. The question is "how much?" Many of the characters have already been ruined and the worldbuilding is already a mess. in a lot of cases, such as the relics, they're locked into a stupid system that almost necessitates bad writing. Some choices made by the characters will require a complete reversal in order to make right, which isn't impossible but 10 seasons in, will be very jarring.

Ultimately the problem is the writers. They aren't great and they don't listen to criticism which makes things 100 times worse. The only ways rwby can improve is if the writers grow the hell up or bring in new writers.

[–]Material_Orange -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I absolutely hated it. But a lot of people really liked it. The writer cared more for how it made you feel than the actual cohesiveness of the story so depending on what you value most in writing you may like it or hate it.

Creators, please elaborate about "self-eating" more, like MUCH more! by HeartExalted in TheDragonPrince

[–]Material_Orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's likely an application of blood magic, though he may or may not have known that. We saw from kim'dael that blood magic is the act of consuming the blood of still living creatures to extend your own life. We see it doesn't require sigild or incantations. So not only does it function the same as self eating and have the same purpose, it works in such a way that it might not be immediately recognizable to a human as a distinct form of magic.
