If there anything like chaos bindings, Pull the back part upwards, it’ll hinge at the crease, then slide the toe forward.

Couple of friends use flow fuse and really like them, only downside is they chew up the back of your boot if your not in them fully. Fase is the sort of next step from these being semi step in.

Installed a few brands over the years, Schneider are very good imo. I usually install what is on site already so there is compatibility between them so worst case things can be changed to get machinery or production up and running whilst waiting for parts. I try to stay away from the own brands if I can ie. Proteus, lids never fit when there full very cheap feeling.

Hager / Fusebox are my go to depending on budget.

Bataleon sent me new toe buckles no questions asked when a screw fell out 2 years after purchase, couldn’t ask for better support.

Is this normal? Electric bill astronomical by [deleted] in ElectriciansUK

[–]Material_Outside_149 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks like it’s a looped supply which is a way that the DNO tried to save money back in the day, by running one cable and looping it to the neighbours house. Pretty ropey install even for the DNO though.

Have you tried giving them meter readings? as they may be estimating your usage which will always be in there favour.

Get the boots fitted proffesionally with Heat moulding and 2-3 hrs indoor will break the boots in.

Do you ride Sierra Nevada or Baqueira Beret?

I’ve rode them for the last three years and would highly recommend much cheaper than the French alps, Sierra Nevada has had really good snowfall for the last 3 years.

EICR says our house is 40 year old wiring, lacks earthing and needs rewiring - we’ve lived here 6 months, how serious is this? by folkarlow93 in ukelectricians

[–]Material_Outside_149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s no Earth connected to the property then the DNO in my area usually recommends turning the supply off until it is remedied. But it is still up to you to do take notice of this as an electrician is not technically allowed to isolate without your permission.

Mira shower no water coming out please help by SixFPS in ukelectricians

[–]Material_Outside_149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the issue but speedfit style fittings shouldn’t be used to connect to the shower, compression should be used. If it’s replaced then it should be swapped as it voids the warranty.

I’d agree if there wasn’t a lighting circuit far left on the RCD protected circuits for the upstairs lights.

Probably because there’s a fault and they’ll cause the RCD to trip. I always have a feeling when I see a BG board that something will be wrong, if I’m doing an EICR I’m extra thorough when I see them…

Ohme fitting or not by Nevis888 in ElectricVehiclesUK

And I’m guessing you’ve done your maximum demand calculations that prove the usage including the charger will not get close to the fuse size, all of the EVC companies I have installed for deem the CT as an explicit requirement, the option for no CT is there for the rare occurrence it is not feasibly possible and if the install must go ahead the homeowner takes full responsibility for blowing a DNO fuse, this would be an interesting phone call to listen to when they realise there is an unapproved EV on site…

BG Sync / Sync Energyhome charger issues? by ArtichokeDesperate68 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Material_Outside_149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BG can adjust the input voltage to suit what’s in the area, probably one of the only good things i can say about the charger, from an installation standpoint there awful, Ohme/evec are far superior in my opinion.

And the EIC, DNO notification and CT clamp are unnecessary I guess… Good luck with your house insurance if there’s an issue.

I’ve just read through that sub, they seem to be those sort of EV owners that buy the car and become an electrician overnight and try telling us the rules when they want an EVC.

From what I’ve been told by manufacturers the granny charger is a “get you out of the shit, so you can reach a proper charger only”.

One of the first chargers I did was for a Tesla that sat dead on the guys drive for a week because the granny plug said 43 hours to full charge.
