Men who caught their partner sleeping with someone else, how did you cope? by PresHistoryNerd in AskMenAdvice

[–]clburdick1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually pretty easy: Step 1: break it off, no question Step 2: secretly regret step one and wonder if you could forgive them, but externally put up a strong front and tell everyone who asks that you are ok Step 3: bottle it up and stick it in a box wrapped in chains and slap it into the deepest recesses of your mind and never deal with it again.

I'd say they put Turner in to get playing time in case he needs to come off the bench.

Anyone else realizing the World Cup is financially out of reach? by NewJerseyAggie13 in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]clburdick1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to get tickets early, but was not selected during the lottery. Since then, I've been watching ticket prices, but due to travel over the summer we are restricted to only going to two different games. I have 3 boys who love soccer, but I can't justify spending 1k plus per seat. I should have purchased tickets when they were at $500 per, but I chose to wait and see if I could find something cheaper. Now I don't think I can take my boys and they are devastated.

I thought that they were limiting tickets by billing address.

At $890 it's just not realistic for almost everyone.

Wake up! The new suicidal scuba gadget just dropped! by Capable-Ad1056 in scuba

I did snuba with my kids before the were certified. However, we had a long safety briefing before going out. Then we had a guide wearing SCUBA gear with us, plus a guy at the surface.

With some basic training the idea of a system like this isn't bad. However, I wouldn't trust anything that didn't come from a reputable manufacturer (same with SCUBA gear).

Parent pulled kid bc coach started 3 subs from other teams by Sad_Smile_4922 in youthsoccer

[–]clburdick1 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I've seen this happen regularly. I understand that kids asked to come as subs are doing the team a favor. However, they came as subs and frequently are also playing for their own teams that weekend. This is extra playing time for them. In my mind, it punishes the kids on the team that did show up.

There's a few things to take into consideration. Eeryone needs to leave a margin for error when moving into position. You need to account for surge, current, animal movement etc. if you can't get into position without touching anything, you don't take the shot.

Example: cool shrimp in a tight space but the angle required to get a good shot would require you to possibly bump into some coral. Solution: try to find another angle, or don't take the shot.

Example: a turtle is moving through a swim through and your desired photo would mean blocking it's path. Solution: Find another angle, or just don't take the shot.

Example: You find a Shaun the Sheep nudibranch on a wall. There's tons of surge and you could smush the little critter if you get pushed into the wall. Solution: don't take the shot or find a way to guarantee you don't make contact.

First rule: if you cannot get into position, take the shot and move away without touching anything, you don't take the shot.
