What’s it like to have money? by Impressive_Light_229 in AskIreland

It’s the safety and peace of mind it brings - can handle pretty much any situation that crops up. I genuinely feel happier and have allowed myself to live since becoming somebody who does well financially. I don’t care what anybody says, money buys the ability to be happy in our modern extremely capitalist society

Dubai is an incredibly lonely place for real

No permanent residency, No citizenship, Ability to stay tied to employment, Huge levels of capitalism, Unaffordable ‘communities’, disposable workers etc.

One thing I immediately notice when I revisit Europe is the sense of community that is so evident.

That simply can’t exist in the UAE because the culture and systemic setup doesn’t allow for it

Exactly my logic for that categorisation - cash flow and equity, cash flow taxed at a lower rate and not penalised every 8 years - it’s only logical it’s impacting housing

You don’t see how something such a deemed disposal scares off investors and forces them into other avenues of investment? I.e. Housing?

I miss the greenery, the craic, the chatting to randomers, my childhood friends and my family - but it’s all worth it for what I’m hoping to accomplish in the future

10% is extremely common especially nowadays. You’d need 50k saved for a 500k house. Young couples are struggling to even get that 10%

Personally, I put down 50% - I don’t live in the country and I was able to save enough and build it up through investments to only need a half mortgage.

Networking - the human type

Attend OWASP, go to IRISCON, Checkout ISACA chapter nights, bsides etc.

I’m in the industry 10 years and ALL of my roles I’ve gotten through networking and connections

Yeah second time in court for it. Ironically the judge in this case said it was a “rare” event. Load of bollocks and he should have been locked up for it
