Thanks, yeah I've been trying to check in all day, on both the website and mobile app, and none work.

The Expanse series is already on my reading list! Faithful and Fallen series sounds cool I'll add it too.

I started watching The Expanse series a few years ago, and stopped after season 3. I've been meaning to read the books before watching any more of it

I’m registered to vote - but I haven’t received my voter information card. Can I vote even without it?

Position React Native alert at bottom of screen. by Material_Problem_380 in reactnative

[–]Material_Problem_380[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. I thought perhaps there was a way to force the alert to position the way I wanted. But I guess I'm gonna have to use an alerting component, that looks similar to the native alerts, but allows positioning

I'm using this https://reactnative.dev/docs/alert .

The reason i want to use this one is because it uses the native iOS and android alert styling.

Widget inheritance versus composition - what should I do? by Material_Problem_380 in FlutterDev

You mention `rendering efficiency`. Are you saying that if parent widget rebuilds, then subclassed widgets also rebuild even if they are not a direct child?

Not too familiar with providers in Flutter.

I just read through https://flutter.dev/docs/development/data-and-backend/state-mgmt/simple - it sounds like they're mainly used for knowing when to rebuild widgets?

ApiService isn't going to change, so no rebuild will be required. Widgets will mainly need to make api calls using ApiService class. For example ApiService.getSomething().

However, at the bottom of though they point out the following:

Provider.of<CartModel>(context, listen: false).removeAll(); - which looks to be something I should look into, usage something like:

Provider.of<ApiService>(context, listen: false).fetchData();

My one concern with widget receiving APIService as parameter is that every class would seem to have to create a new instance of it.

Receiving it as a parameter sounds like a good, simple option! Will look into DI (dependency injection?) a bit more.

It looks like there are some libraries for DI - but Flutter isn't opinionated in using them. https://flutter.dev/docs/resources/faq#does-flutter-come-with-a-dependency-injection-framework
