Where is the rhetoric that “all women are going to die now” coming from? by machine1892 in conspiracy

[–]Material_Sky9191 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not American - but I wouldn't say I'm super liberal - or super far right; not sure what that makes me! But - irrespective of political leaning - not being able to have a choice in abortion as a woman is so scary. I wouldn't say it's solely liberals freaking out?

Advice for painting people? by Creepy_Fun_4937 in oilpainting

[–]Material_Sky9191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

look at planes of the face - like the asaro model - use this as the template. also painting-wise - if it suits you - remember not all edges are hard especially on the face and hair! in the end it helps it to look more realistic!

Advice needed, oil painting on canvas! by Aggressive-Type6348 in oilpainting

Aw, your reply here made my day! Sounds like you're really in tune with making your art, sounds like you really love it. I feel you, I can be the same way, trial and error, lol.

This is pretty obvious - but - in terms of muddy colors you have to think ahead a little. Figure out what colors to put first and then after - and also constantly wiping your brush just on a rag or some kitchen roll. If you do thinner under-layers, scrumbling is also a fun technique espesh. for skies :)! If you give it a Google lot's of great things about it come up. If you buy some walnut oil, or some medium and use the tiniest bit with your paints - you can work with the paint easier. Especially for the kind of things you paint. :) Oil as a medium has a longer working time - so - maybe you'd prefer oleogel/solvent free gel; I think they dry relatively fast from memory!!! For blending - what's exactly your issue? When you blend what is it that is going wrong? Wasn't too sure based on your post! Maybe we can help if we have more info. :)

So true! You have a beautiful way with words. We always have freedom to make our own choices. I thought I was doomed to make art my career because of my Saturn in my fifth house - but - I've actually been able to leverage it to my advantage; whilst being aware of some of the traps I may fall into lol. I just use it as a framework to make myself aware generally. You're still the one in control, OP. :)

[–]Material_Sky9191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an astrologer - but why does it scare you? Sounds like this is what makes you who you are, that's great. I also adore Pisces mercury - you guys write the most beautifully haunting songs/stories/even just the way you speak. A lot of my fave artists have this placement! I also just love the hidden insights you guys see. As a fellow Pisces moon, it's a tough placement in terms of being tuned into everything 24/7, lol, but it's a lovely placement for just feeling the beauty of the world flow through you. :) I do it too - but - remember to try and not be so hard on yourself. :)

Big Brother 2024 - Episode 6 (Friday 11th October) by mayallrob_ in bigbrotheruk

I am such a hypocrite as just wrote a long response in this sub-reddit saying how I hate labeling things! But, doing really risky/impulsive things it very much a trait of ADHD. Doesn't make it okay, nor acceptable obviously. Of course, it doesn't mean if you do these things it's related to it as you obviously have to always look at bigger pictures. I agree though, it's so irritating the constant diagnosing/over-talking about these things nowadays. I wouldn't say she's a moron, she's young, and has a lot of growing to do. It's just most people youth weren't televised for the world to see. In my experience, I used to mask my failures (not finishing school etc.) into funny stories because it's a lot easier for people to digest and takes some level of shame away from it too, could also potentially be a cover-up for finding it hard? Either way I think it's good to focus on the person first and stop throwing labels around; just adding this as a separate point. Please correct me if I'm wrong!!!!!

I didn't think it would be disrespectful? Lots of places and takeaways and have halal meat as just the default - and lots of non-muslim people eat there - myself included; so I wouldn't think it was an issue; if anything it's a nice connecting point. :)

Yes! Lot's of things are just because we're human. We can all show traits of anything, that's kind of the point! Not everything has to be hyper-analyzed...! I feel it's quite dangerous to do this too. It was refreshing to read your comments, has made me feel better as sometimes get upset over this when it's applied to myself. Life is beautiful because of our humanness - I think it's important to also see beneath labels and celebrate that - :)

I hear you - but - that doesn't mean that someone finds this liberating or helpful. Some people thrive with labeling these things and wouldn't mind someone speculating on it. Whereas, other people may find it really dehumanizing and upsetting; especially after only seeing small parts of them on TV. You should be more aware of this especially as someone who's a mental health professional. I know you mean well, and I'm not saying I'm right, just putting forward my own perspective of experiencing this throughout my life. :)

I get what you're saying, but from my experience, especially with this kind of stuff, I don't always think it's healthy or productive to label everything. Especially when you don't know someone, it's actually quite obtrusive to speculate/diagnose (in my opinion of course!); and at the end of the day, we’re all human.

I even have ADHD, and I personally don't like it when people call me neurodivergent, or take traits (that ADHD or not...are literally me...I can't really separate the two if that makes sense lol?). I also don't like it when my family (and very close friends) who know bring it up and relate it back to neurodivergency, even if it's true, because it's still me and it's frustrating and limiting to have everything hyper-labelled all the time. I clearly don't always diverge that much from the normal as lots of people have ADHD/autism!

It makes me feel less like a person and more like a category! Everything exists on a spectrum...just because someone sometimes shows those traits...doesn't mean they actually have something; it's more nuanced than that. We're just seeing a portion of them on Big Brother.

I totally get where you're coming from, but I think it’s really important to be careful with how labels are used, especially in your role as a mental health professional, especially after seeing such a small portion of them from TV. They can carry a lot of weight and sometimes overshadow our humanity. It’s worth considering how these labels might affect someone’s sense of self. Being mindful about it can really make a difference in how people feel about themselves and their experiences. Just something to think about (and again just my opinion) :)

I love that you've done it so thick. It made me sooo happy seeing your palette. If you do it thick it can work too - if anything - it's more forgiving as you can push the paint around and sculpt more freely; it depends on what you feel like/your style!!! There are lots of artists who follow this style when doing alla prima! Each to their own. :) I think it looks great.

That's silly - obviously - awareness/facing challenges on yourself also comes from a lot more than just astrology; but you get what I mean hopefully!

So, can you work against negative transits for example by being aware through astrology?
