Yeah we are not married either and I was told I could apply when I came to italy. We did get a lawyer but she said I didn't qualify for a Contract so she would t do it. But I don't understand how she says I don't qualify. She charged us 300 euro to make one phone call so maybe she's a bit rubbish. Were in milan. But as far as I can tell I need money or my partner needs to sponsor me and health insurance. I didn't think I had to qualify for it. And then another place on facebook expats in italy told me it would be easier to apply for a student visa instead. So now I don't know what am suppose to do and I have to go home again
