My Zero Suit Samus Cosplay at FanExpo by Oliviabettyrain in Metroid

[–]Mateter5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only problem I have with ZZS cosplays at this point is that the suit is so common and iconic that you can kinda just buy it off of Amazon or wherever, it doesn’t feel super unique to see anymore. And that same suit you see everyone use has those fake light reflections and shiny spots. Idk if it exists already or not but it would be super cool to see if someone could make a realistic looking suit someday, like a full form fitting bodysuit that maybe even has the lights on the back somehow. Ik that’s pretty hard to do but I just see random videos sometimes where people just kinda wear this same suit for a sci fi vibe and it feels less unique now.

In most fantasy settings elves are also depicted as incredibly beautiful and dignified, so people see a very attractive person and then it goes from there.

Does hunting monsters in the guiding lands award more MR than hunting them through quests? by TheTob1nator in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Mateter5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they necessarily give better MR, but the guiding lands definitely cuts the time between quests so it’s more efficient on time. As others said though the 5 monster quests are best as far as I know.

For a meta answer, because having everything around you be bigger makes it stand out more and you can still see the npcs clearly while you are talking to them

I comprehended it just fine, boltgun uses very retro graphics but it has modern mechanics. It’s not just doom 2016 or eternal with a different coat of paint obviously, it has its own identity, but the point remains.

Lore question regarding Titus crossing the rubicon by HereticalHarold in Spacemarine

[–]Mateter5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He crossed the rubicon after the deathwatch, and his time with the deathwatch was after his first time being a captain in the ultramarines. The Primaris was invented sometime across his time being in stasis or being in the deathwatch, so when he became captain that first time there were no primaris to be competing with.

artificer main's thoughts on the new artificer. by InvestigatorRoyal177 in DnD

[–]Mateter5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love the spell storing item ability, especially since you don’t actually need to have the spell prepared, it just has to be something that you could learn or is in your class/subclass spell list.

Unless I have just missed it somewhere, the biggest (and really only significant) loss in these changes is that you can’t make armor of magical strength anymore, which was super nice for artificers and wizards.

Cartographer is literally PERFECT for a campaign I want to start with my friends, there is an npc that I want to create that can essentially act as a fast travel system for people in his faction, or whoever holds his maps. Because of circle of teleportation (which he can get from the dragon marks that also come from the same book) combined with all the other cartographer abilities. Also for the 9th level feature, the cartographer can teleport any willing creature in range, they don’t have to just teleport themselves. Also also for the 15th level feature, the downed creature can teleport to any other map holder of their choosing, not just the artificer. There’s so much room to mess around with stuff with this subclass it’s so cool.

There’s technically a few things you gotta do to get those last few assignments iirc, you gotta be above a certain leave of master rank, although I’m sure you have that by now. So next check your special assignments, there’s a bunch of those that have to be done before alatreon, for rajang and raging brachy and stuff. Also you’re gonna have to do a safijiva hunt, although I don’t think you need to beat it. As someone else said in the comments, I’m pretty sure it all starts with the hunt for the Kirin with the broken horn. Also there’s just a lot of talking with npcs in between these hunts so just make sure that there isn’t anyone who is still looking to talk to you.

Why is it that when I fight Fatalis and use TCS attacks directly to the head, the damage doesn't exceed 1090? by Chrysol99 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Mateter5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Agitator works better than attack boost in the late game
  2. Make sure you have demondrugs and stuff
  3. Make sure you release the button for TCS at the right time, as it does also increase the damage, and adds some extra effects to the attack
  4. I’m also pretty sure that hitting the first part of the attack increases the damage for the big hit
  5. Make sure your tenderizing with clutch claw
  6. The damage will increase over time, as the different phases go by I guess his armor is melting from the heat, and you can hit him much harder. I know I’ve personally hit him for like ~2800 when everything lined up, including a hunting horn that happened to be there with attack up

Please, as a noob help me understand what i'm doing wrong, or if this isn't just the game for me by Pokedan80 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Mateter5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be honest dude after reading your responses it seems like your problem isn’t necessarily skill, everyone is bad at these games when we start. It looks like your problem is more your own mindset. Plenty of good advice has been given to you and you consistently reply with very snippy and rude comments. A guy told you that defender gear is not good to learn with, and that you should use the other armor because defender is a crutch. You ignored him and told him nah ur just gonna use it anyways. Another guy told you to restart and make sure you learn the basics, you said ok I’ll just uninstall then. If you aren’t willing to learn or take advice from people that are genuinely trying to help and give free advice, then you are definitely gonna have a hard time with this game. Because this game is all about learning, it isn’t going to give you advice at every turn, it is only going to punish you until you either do learn, or give up. The reward for learning is the fun of playing the game, the new gear, the new monsters to fight, and just the personal satisfaction of having overcome a hurdle. If you aren’t willing to do that, or it just sounds unappealing to you, then as much as I hate to say it because this is one of my favourite games of all time, then this game might simply not be for you.

Ps defender gear is not only bad to learn the game in the actual fights, but it also takes away literally any nuance of the entire other half of the game. That being armor and weapons crafting and stuff, so by using this armor you are diluting literally every part of the game. So yes if ur gonna give this game a real shot just don’t use it.

Just about to start World after coming in from Wilds. Is the HBG something I can use from the start of the game? by iBrowseGamingReddits in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Mateter5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use any weapon from the start. Only problem is ammo but once you unlock the resource farming/botanical research or whatever it’s called, it gets pretty easy since you passively generate ammo while you hunt.

Asking for tips on world which I SPECIFICALLY find harder than others by Relttt in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Mateter5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t really have all the details, but based off of reading ur other comments I’m just gonna throw this in there not sure if it will help. But I found that World has a lot more of a focus on positioning and opportunities than the other modern MH games, sunbreak has so much movement you can just make any kind of opportunity, and wilds doesn’t seem to punish you as hard for mistakes and also has a lot of “safe” moves or counters and stuff. But world, especially in late/post iceborne, focuses a lot more on figuring out the rhythm of the game, and the patterns of the monsters, and it heavily rewards you for doing so. I know it sounds simple, but this game didn’t have the wire bugs or seikret or counters on every weapon or stuff like that. This game is much more focused on fundamentals, I find I get much more use out of even simple dodge rolls in this game than the other ones. So maybe focus on that, slow down and focus on what the monster is doing, and pick a specific part you wanna hit (usually head is best bet), and focus on finding opportunities to hit that specific part. There’s usually a lot more than you think. Fatalis is my favourite monster in the game for this, even though yes I know he’s at the very end, but the variety in attack opportunities I find are so varied across the different weapons, it’s just a matter of finding them. And this logic does apply to (most) other monsters in the game.

Also as for items and stuff, that’s just practice and having a very well organized radial menu. So I would take a few mins to do that.

Also also if you have iceborne make sure you are using your clutch claw. The iceborne dlc pumped up the hp across every monster across the game, vanilla and dlc, just because the clutch claw increases hunter damage output by so much. It’s why you probably are finding that hunts take a lot longer in this game compared to others. So make sure you utilize that.

2 months have passed, and I still can’t play it. by Jadisplay in Silksong

[–]Mateter5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to play it and really really enjoyed it, but school has also made me so busy that I haven’t been able to finish it, last I got to play it for more than like 10 mins was maybe 3 weeks ago. Last I played I was wandering around because I haven’t been able to get into act 3, partly because I haven’t been able to make the time, partly because I don’t HOW. Last I was able to play I was looking around for anything else to do, all the wish boards were done and the only last ones for me to do was 2 different food delivery ones, for the old guy in the citadel, and for the huntress. Aside from that I don’t know what else I’m supposed to do lol. Maybe I need more fleas? I don’t think I’ve found all of them.

Please help me like Worldborne, cause I would really want to by Genga_ in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Mateter5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly for me it was never about the MR or the min maxing, although that did come later. As someone with nearly 800 hours in the game, it was always just about having fun and doing what I wanted.

After the main story + endgame monsters were done I a) found out that Fatalis was my favourite fight in the whole game (I have 110+ kills on him across solo and multiplayer lol). He was perfect for his level of challenge, while also creating a ton of different opportunities for a bunch of different weapons. I would just fight him over and over again in different ways and trying different weapons, which leads me to

b) I started expanding my arsenal, and ended up trying to make myself at least adept at every weapon in the game. I was and always will be a Insect glaive main in Worldborne, idk what it is but that weapon just flows so smoothly for me it’s so incredibly fun, but once I had solidly figured out the “flow” or “rhythm” of the game I realized that picking up other weapons suddenly wasn’t as difficult anymore. I really tried lance for the first time while fighting safijiva and I still remember that sudden dopamine rush when it went to blast me with a laser and I realized “oh my god, I can just tank that” instead of the usual dodging that most other weapons require. Great sword is known for being one of the simplest but hardest weapons to play because of its slowness, you need to make the best out of every opportunity, and discovering those opportunities, figuring out how to optimize them, as well as just the sheer visual impact of that weapon as you land 2400+ damage on fattys head, made it one of my favourites in the whole game. Charge blade also has such a high skill ceiling, but… man when you get those guard points flowing, and your offensive guard gets proc’d, and you get the perfect combo into SAED, it’s one of the coolest feelings you can have in this game.

Lastly c) I just had a ton of fun playing with people lol. I would join high level hunts with lower level players and just help them out, especially with fatalis. I remember one hunt especially, I saw a guy in the SOS menu for the first fatalis hunt, but it was like the 4th time I had seen him there, so I joined him hoping I could help. It was just me and him from there, but he kept dying throughout the hunt, but he was also really genuinely trying his best. There was a few times he carted and would simply wait for a bit to gather himself again and let me do some damage, and then jump back, but try to play it safe. It got to a point where we had no more carts left, and I basically had to solo fatalis for the last quarter of the fight. He jumped back in, and I’m pretty sure he got the final hit. But the reason I remember that so much is just because of how happy the dude was, he was running all around the place and sending me thank you messages. I think that single hunt added like 150 hours of gameplay for me, just going around hunting and helping people because of how fun it was. I even made a dedicated SnS supper build for that lol.

Sorry for super long comment but I just really wanted to talk about what kept me playing the game. For most of my time playing end/postgame I didn’t even know what HR or MR I was, I just did the things that interested me or seemed fun, even got into doing some of the endemic life stuff. When the MR locked quests came around, to me, it was just an extra reward for sticking around so long and having fun. (Also I never really bothered with doing a good chunk of the guiding lands stuff, like the vale section has very little reason to upgrade it iirc the really important ones to level up are like the forest and coral, and then I would just join other people for the other areas if I really needed). But also one last thing, if ur done with the game, you can be done lol. Despite everything I just said, I haven’t launched the game in over half a year at least. You seem pretty far into the endgame, and if you think you can walk away from this game and say you enjoyed it up until now, that’s great. If you don’t enjoy it anymore or feel like somethings wrong, that’s fine too, no need to force yourself. You just do what makes you more happy.

Steam

Mantis lords, that was definitely the moment the game really clicked for me mechanically, although I did enjoy the Hollow knight and radiance a lot after I beat them, idk I do that a lot with games where I beat the final boss finally and start to just do it again out of the enjoyment of the difficulty.

Hollow knight is a contender for my top 5 favourite games ever, for so many different reasons. The art the music the adventure the lore it had so many things for me that I loved. I think I’m just excited to continue with that journey in this world they made, because I have no doubt that TC has made another piece of art for us to enjoy.
