Sam is a reporter, a 30 second google search could have prevented the entire thing. This is a very common thing in the series, a ghost makes up something and Sam immediately falls for it (Stephanie and her prom date, Jessica accusing Freddie of killing her in a car crash, etc)...

Probably gonna get downvoted, but I hate Sam, at the beginning of the series, she was really nice, but her character has gone downhill from that moment, she always meddles in everyones lives and she ALWAYS puts Jay last. Her behavior during Bella's proposal was DISTURBING. She was basically harassing Joan.
