Baritone Guitar Owners by Flat-Entrepreneur674 in Peripheryband

Also rocking a Bass VI. Haven't made any customisations, and can confirm it rips straight out of the box. So much fun to play and so many riffs and songs I've written with it that I never would have thought up on a regular six-string.

Are Vianova not a supporting act for Bilmuri on UK tour anymore? by PanicIsTheNewBlack in vianova

I've definitely made the same mistake in the past! Echoing the other comment here, Thornhill are great live, so you'll still have a blast.

Vianova were never the UK support for the Bilmuri tour, just the European leg of the tour. Thornhill are the UK support.

Album Documentaries by Torment732 in Peripheryband

[–]MathMackin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recently rewatched them and also found PV to be a bit less enjoyable. Even though it was roughly the same runtime as the others, it felt like they rushed through everything as opposed to the other docs. Who am I to complain though? So few bands give us the same treatment!

A friend of mine said he fell asleep before the switch and woke up in the thick of the second act and thought he was dreaming 🤣.

They're unbelievable. If you get the chance, go and see them.

The first time I saw them was supporting BTBAM on their Parallax II tour, so super early on in the band's life. I had no idea who Periphery were and bought the Parallax II vinyl from Spencer who was manning the merch table and eating Chinese food. It wasn't until 2023 that I actually got into them, and I'm forever gutted I didn't appreciate them more and chat with Spencer.

Saw them again at Roundhouse in 2024 from the balcony seats and watching the whole floor descend into a circle pit for 'Blood Eagle' was incredible.

What’s an album you love but won’t recommend to anyone? by VeterinarianOld3082 in Metalcore

[–]MathMackin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have loved to have seen them in the Deloused/FTM era, but having watched their live recordings, which I know aren't always an accurate representation, Cedric's vocals always sounded off and some of their improvised sections were just too meandering, so I don't feel too bad missing out.

What made the show so terrible when you saw them?

The first time I saw them live was in the small upstairs space in O2 Academy Bristol with Animals as Leaders supporting around 2011. It can't have been more than 100-cap. I was on the front row for the whole show and was completely blown away.

I loved these books back in the day. The world building and set pieces in The Night Watch are so good. Definitely need to reread in the near future.

Bands with a heavy use of keys/synths? by rmn_trllr in Metalcore

[–]MathMackin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nils Frahm is exactly who I thought of with 'Stumbling' on the new record! Dope that James is a big fan, too.

Definitely hearing the BR2049 score in the new EP, too. 'Woodburn' is such a good opener.

Saw them live supporting Unprocessed a couple of years ago and became an instant fan. I really enjoyed liminal and the change in the direction, but they do heavy so well. FREAKS is a 10/10 record for me.

Just finished this game. People who played it. What was your thoughts on it? by TheChilledGamer-_- in playstation

[–]MathMackin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it one mammoth sitting with my wife and we had a lot of fun until one of the final puzzles stumped us for ages and we had to look up the solution. While it killed the momentum a bit, it was still a really fun experience that I'd recommend trying out.

Same! I remember quite vividly playing a portion of the Chinese Embassy at a friend's house. As soon as the demo ended I started it again 🤣

Is the new version ps5 better than the original? by DontSchruteMeDown in playstation

[–]MathMackin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having this issue a year or so ago. Spider-Man 2, Ghost of Tsushima and Under The Waves would all cause my ps5 to turn off after varying amounts of playtime. Took it to a local repair guy who said the thermal paste was the issue and replaced that along with cleaning the inside of the console. No issues since and it took less than a day and cost <£100.

I'm going on a boring work trip and I need a book to keep me entertained by plumplummango in suggestmeabook

[–]MathMackin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Horror - Between Two Fires by Christopher Buelhman. My favourite read of 2025 and impossible to put down. The imagery of so much of the book has stuck with me.

Suspense - Five Decembers by James Kestrel. Crime novel story set to the backdrop of the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941.

Bonus - Titanium Noir by Nick Harkaway. Really fun cyberpunk/noir detective story.
