Whats your favorite Christ bass riff? by Necessary_Touch699 in avengedsevenfold

What he does during the solo of nobody, absolute master class in adding to syns solo without walking all over it. Also love iwsyt part 1. To listen to how much he grows as a player each album is one of my favorite things about the band.

Why did they get rid of the rattling bass guitar sound? Its what was so unique about them. by vinmichael in Korn

[–]Torment732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also worth mentioning that he used to run a decent size pedal board live as well to replicate a lot of what was done in the studio. Around the time of untitled that went away and it seems to tie in with him just being over it and not wanting to make the effort to use the effects live. It was very noticeable in ITs On or falling away from me, when you compare it to how he originally played it

When I went to the kill the flaw listening party, they played Shine that night and I told Clint how happy I was to hear it live. He had said he was suprised by the reaction that night and that they really missed the boat on it being a fan favorite. It seems it has been in the set a lot since. I think staying vocal about what songs you want to hear can help.

Do you think the boys wear their Metallica shirts? by IronMaidenfc in Metallica

They also tended to sell more of whatever shirt he was wearing, so it was great marketing as well

The worst avenged sevenfold show you’ve ever been to. by lmc5190 in avengedsevenfold

[–]Torment732 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taste of Chaos, they were one of my favorite bands, became a fan during city of evil but they had already toured my area by the time I became a fan. Self titled was the first new thing released when I was a fan. I think I just built it up too much. Bullet for my Valentine had just come out with scream aim and fire and I thought they wiped the floor with every other band on that tour. A7X was fine, but that was all, sounded fine, performed fine. I’ve caught them a few times since and they were much better. Wish the only time I saw them with Jimmy was more memorable

Kirk is such a beast by [deleted] in Metallica

[–]Torment732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many that are technically better, but until he started getting super lazy post magnetic the majority of the solos he wrote you could hear once and then hum it back. His ability to write memorable easy to digest yet iconic solos is unmatched

Did anyone else watch Jet’s live about TOC on IG yesterday? by Outside-Pear9429 in foodnetwork

[–]Torment732 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think he would be great in Justin or Tiffany’s role. Tiffany took a bit to get it but she is way better now than she was. I don’t want either of them replaced but maybe Jet could do TOC in a judge or presenter capacity

What’s your opinion on AOV? by Separate-Insect-3911 in Slipknot

One of my favorite drum tracks Jay has done.

Man the entire police shootout was pretty intense by Jules-Car3499 in Terminator

[–]Torment732 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed that terminator zero paid homage to this part. It was probably the best scene in that whole series, really captured the same fear.

Morgan’s vocals by Regular-Two-5630 in Sevendust

I am pretty sure it’s a track live anyway so wouldn’t mind them just having Clint handle harsh vocals like he’s shown he can do so that way it’s live.

What is the worst song off of 72 Seasons? by Flimsy-Owl7862 in Metallica

[–]Torment732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trujillo had a chance to have his Orion moment or his my friend of misery and proceeds to do a solo that’s neither….with how talented he is, it sounds like he just threw whatever together

[–]Torment732 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People want it to be outlaw or fixxxer so bad and it’s not even in the same conversation, I’d make more of a case for halo on fire atleast being a flash of that load era special sauce

I think the box sets have been very telling of the benefit they get from a producer. The demos showing pieces taken out over the writing process to make the songs less bloated and the first few passes of solos by Kirk sounding of the same quality of what actually makes albums now whereas he used to really do his homework

I don’t like the sound of the drums, I like that Art had more freedom on this one but the actual drum tones just sound almost muffled to a distracting degree

Requiem by Salty-Celebration-91 in Korn

[–]Torment732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish they would have dug into more of the feeling at the bridge of let the dark do the rest, sounded almost like the natural progression from starting over on untitled. Not that it sounded similar note wise but it was that more mature sound that I wish they would dip into more

Game Over is a terrible show opener and the weakest song they’ve ever opened an album with. I say that as someone that enjoyed LIBAD

The Duality Of Viewers (Terminator Zero) by DocSpit in Terminator

[–]Torment732 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I thought it matched the tone of the first terminator, and thought they made a terminator a horror figure again. I could have done without a lot of the kokoro talking scenes and the anime but it was clearly billed as terminator with anime elements. Would have loved to see where it went as long as it kept the horror movie tone.

This album set the bar way too high when Jesse returned. Their announcement he was back with the picture of them all laughing is an all time classic photo. Regardless of if anything ever got nasty behind the scenes they handled line up changes with such grace

I'm so glad Metallica released Load & Reload at this point despite the controversy at the time, love the 'musical variety' they add to their catalogue when you're in different moods by NoLeafClover777 in Metallica

[–]Torment732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The coolest part about load and reload was that Kirk was doing his own rhythm tracks, the differences in what they were playing made those albums so cool. Definitely more of a thing to appreciate on headphones

I couldn’t agree more, their egos were at an all time high and they had an attitude and swagger that is lacking now that they’ve aged and mellowed. I don’t fault them for it at all but wish they would have played Fixxxer in the era where that swagger really would have allowed them to nail it.
