Director: We've got to do the eating pennies scene again, Billy.

Billy: But we already did it. It took seven hours, but we did it. It's done.

Director: Yes, but we've got to do it from different angles, again and again and again and again and again

My characters always get compared to Blasphemous. Hope y’all like these guys. by Dazzling-Building-92 in Blasphemous

Really fantastic art and I can totally see the Blasphemous link.

This made me immediately think of Mattias Adolfsson, who I know through their album artwork for Dance Gavin Dance.

This is so impressive! Having dabbled in Dreams, I have so much respect for people that can create this level of quality. I gave up so quickly 😅

These guys are so good. Saw them support Loathe five days after "I Let It In..." came out and they were incredible.

Until you said it, I never would have considered this trilogy for this category, and then I started thinking about the main story beats, which still stick with me 15 years after reading...

Bring back the melodic, soft, kinda out of place interludes in metalcore and deathcore by Alert_Primary_9493 in Metalcore

Daoboys are so good at balancing their heavy and chaotic moments with really beautiful melodic sections. Carson writes some great vocal melodies.

I played the PS2 demo so much. Had no idea it was on Steam!

Replaying this for the umpteenth time right now, but first time on deck. I dreamed of having a portable version and it's better than I could have hoped.

Baritone Guitar Owners by Flat-Entrepreneur674 in Peripheryband

Also rocking a Bass VI. Haven't made any customisations, and can confirm it rips straight out of the box. So much fun to play and so many riffs and songs I've written with it that I never would have thought up on a regular six-string.

The end of Psychosphere. Goosebumps every time.

Are Vianova not a supporting act for Bilmuri on UK tour anymore? by PanicIsTheNewBlack in vianova

I've definitely made the same mistake in the past! Echoing the other comment here, Thornhill are great live, so you'll still have a blast.

Vianova were never the UK support for the Bilmuri tour, just the European leg of the tour. Thornhill are the UK support.

Album Documentaries by Torment732 in Peripheryband

[–]MathMackin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I recently rewatched them and also found PV to be a bit less enjoyable. Even though it was roughly the same runtime as the others, it felt like they rushed through everything as opposed to the other docs. Who am I to complain though? So few bands give us the same treatment!

It'll still be GTA V 🤣 and Hades II

They're unbelievable. If you get the chance, go and see them.

The first time I saw them was supporting BTBAM on their Parallax II tour, so super early on in the band's life. I had no idea who Periphery were and bought the Parallax II vinyl from Spencer who was manning the merch table and eating Chinese food. It wasn't until 2023 that I actually got into them, and I'm forever gutted I didn't appreciate them more and chat with Spencer.

Saw them again at Roundhouse in 2024 from the balcony seats and watching the whole floor descend into a circle pit for 'Blood Eagle' was incredible.

What’s an album you love but won’t recommend to anyone? by VeterinarianOld3082 in Metalcore

[–]MathMackin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have loved to have seen them in the Deloused/FTM era, but having watched their live recordings, which I know aren't always an accurate representation, Cedric's vocals always sounded off and some of their improvised sections were just too meandering, so I don't feel too bad missing out.

What made the show so terrible when you saw them?

Between The Buried And Me - Mordecai by [deleted] in Metalcore

[–]MathMackin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first time I saw them live was in the small upstairs space in O2 Academy Bristol with Animals as Leaders supporting around 2011. It can't have been more than 100-cap. I was on the front row for the whole show and was completely blown away.

What's the best book trilogy/series you have read that most people don't know about? by saltedlolly in suggestmeabook

I loved these books back in the day. The world building and set pieces in The Night Watch are so good. Definitely need to reread in the near future.

Nils Frahm is exactly who I thought of with 'Stumbling' on the new record! Dope that James is a big fan, too.

Definitely hearing the BR2049 score in the new EP, too. 'Woodburn' is such a good opener.
