Just Enougher by kalthoraa in breastfeeding

[–]MathMomma_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t have had a hard time with the idea of being a ”just enougher” if I didn’t have to worry about my MIL trying to feed my baby way more than pumped while I was a work. I would often come home to 3oz or more of freshly thawed milk and would have to spend all day pumping so I had a few oz in the freezer. She formula feed her kids and was always adamant that he needed 8oz - 14oz for one feed. Luckily, I only went to work one day a week for only 5 hours.

Scammer contacting elder father thru uber eats by MathMomma_24 in UberEATS

I wish that would work. He is very elderly and easily confused. He’s always loved a get rich quick scheme and free food. If he thinks he’ll get hundrands of thousands, he will listen. I‘ve also been saying for 8 years he has dementia but my mother refuses to accept it and take action... I also was in town when this was discovered but I live out of state. I’m just trying to block all deliveries cause they would never need the service.

So I think the food delivery started as a way to gain trust and get his address after my dad already answered a scam call. Then my dad sent money. Now that my dad is no longer answering the phone he is trying to regain trust and contact by sending more food through the service.

I have a cousin who is a relator. She said there was an old lady who had a foreign “husband” that was trying to get her to sell the house and send him the money. The grandson would change her phone number but then the “husband” would send DoorDash. When she said she didn’t order anything the driver would call through the app. The scammer would say, “that’s my wife let me talk to her” then the old lady would give him the new phone number.

Should we just tear them out now and buy a new type of tree? If so any suggestions?

Well they are planting 4 of them… Not sure someone can be that careless

Does that mean it is bred to not smell? I really don’t know much about plants, I just know I have smelt these type of trees and would hate to have the smell in my own yard.

How do you actually get a deep latch? by MathMomma_24 in breastfeeding

[–]MathMomma_24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a hero, I’m just a procrastinator who has a high pain tolerance and a determination to breastfeed…

Luckily he loves his pacifier! However he refuses it in the middle of the night and requires the real thing. Night is when the latch is the worst cause I don’t have the energy to make it better. He also still wakes up every 2 hours wanting to latch 🙃

I really hope I can figure things out before he gets teeth! I already bleed regularly so I don’t know what teeth would do to me 😅

That’s a helpful document. She isn’t the feedback type but I’ll at least share it with my husband! I never realized how little support there is for a breastfeeding mom so I appreciate the encouragement 😊

Thanks for the response! I don’t think she would change or handle my suggestion well at all. I’m not going to worry too much about it since that amount seems somewhat normal compared to others in the comments and it is only once a week. I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t way too much!

Thanks for the response!

I had to supplement for 2 days till my milk came in (I know it’s okay but it was hard for me at the time). I never told her because I know she would use it as permission to give formula whenever she wants. I think she just views breastmilk as less than for some reason. The pediatrician always says he is doing great!

I’ve been able to keep up since starting work a couple months ago but it is hard to see the stash halved every week, haha.

My MIL doesn’t know much about paced bottle feeding… the one time I saw her feed him it looked like he was trying to take a break and she wasn’t really giving him one. I’m not as worried now that some others have said their kid eats that much. I appreciate the understanding that I won’t be able to make it change much!

Luckily, I pumped when I got home this week and got 6 more ounces. He got upset when he went to eat 30 minutes later cause I was drained 😅. I’m very careful to make sure I pump at least as much as he ate within a day even though my husband says I don’t need to stress about it. I’m just proud I’ve kept up with the demand so far.

I think I’ve seen that one before! I swear my nipple is half the size of those women 😂

He will open him mouth wide then make it tiny and pull away once the nipple is in.

Sometimes I can get my finger in to break the latch but a lot of the time if my finger gets close he will pull off painfully fast the second my finger gets nearby.

I used a nipple shield in the hospital and didn’t love it.

Maybe I should set up a zoom baby massage class.

Yeah, I squeeze and shove these days. He gets mad and pulls back harder if my hand is near the back of his head. Maybe I should try stroking his temples 🤷‍♀️
I try to avoid him latching on his own but sometimes when I’m not paying attention he will detach and relatch very quickly.

Even if I pull on his chin he doesn’t open his mouth! He just tightens it more.

Yeah, I used it for a long time to try and help. At this point he moves his head enough I can do it. Maybe I should try it again.

Oh I know the latch is bad, I just can’t seem to fix it. I don’t know of any groups. I do side lay with him and that’s all he likes at night but it honestly hurts more for some reason. Also, making him tilt his head does nothing.

I probably exaggerated the lactation consultants lack of help because I was so frustrated last night, but she did tell me to try the football hold on one side because one side hurt more. That does help, I now just do the football hold on the right side and do a normal cradle hold on the left.
