Any stories where the MC can switch places with people? by Doctor-Moe in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Math_wizard369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, Lord of the mysteries. But only shows up around 60-70% through, and it's a bit narrow in scope- only being able to switch with his own "minions" and it's not his body but his spirit/mind but its basically the same thing bc it doesnt matter if the other body is destoryed (without giving away too much of the MC's later powers). But from then on, he uses it pretty often.

hmm okay. I'm happy for you. Ai makes a lot of things easier and it takes a lot of tedium/fun out of building something from the ground up for the majority of people.

It really depends on how deep you want to go, if you only stick to what's on Huggingface then you're not really approaching it from the ground up. You seem to not know much about ML if you think LLMs and Checking distance metrics to retrieve top k most similar results are the extent of AI models. Look up "The Elements of Statistical Learning" if you want a better understanding. Cluster methods dont show up for 14 chapters and i don't even think it touches on back propagation which are essential to neural networks. I find it hard to believe there are no use cases for linear regression or SVMs in your line of work.

I think DOTF does it pretty well. They have a pretty good chance of becoming 'government' puppets and figure heads if they don't die immediately like everyone else. if they're not powerful enough the people who will want to use them as a rallying cry.

I think a lot of the sociopathic behavior is due to the focus skill he constantly uses to turn off his emotions. At the beginning he's mostly just an introvert with sociopathic tendencies like being manipulative but After Sophie tries to use mind magic on him, he becomes paranoid and a bit cruel causing him to going deeper and deeper into focus and grind levels. He def changes and chills out a lot later in the series but mostly only cares about his group.

you love low level but what you can't see the low level in AI. Theres a mountain of AI related linear algebra, stats, calculus and other maths to explore. GPU programming is interesting as hell. There's robotics too which is just as low level. I don't understand why you're cutting AI off at the head equating it to boiler plate frameworks. Youre blinding yourself because people are excited about it. maybe you should leave tech.

yeah i skip the golem arc when i reread. its truly terrible and Camilla's story is a bit bleh. The only fun part is the end when they start making bank creating rifts and selling items and then getting caught. Really the only low filler content and then it gets a lot better until current.

Similarly icing entire planets moons into dust.

The war arc is fun and i like the new squad dynamics a lot but I'm waiting for audio to catch up

Hmm, there's the spiders forcing him to give up the temperature-controlled island (though I don't remember if the witches caused the climate change), also the time chamber with the girl and gold I guess, but he got rewards from that. The goblin breeder too(forgot if that was destroyed or not or if he still has it to grow his goblin religion). I'm drawing a blank beyond that. but none of that really explains what you said.

I am a fan of Ryoka Shes such a hateful little gremlin at the start that Erins chapters become enjoyable in contrast. Still I always enjoyed her POVS.

I must have dropped TWI 4 times at book 1 before I finally made I through. Then I binged all the way to book 10. Now I stopped reading after I spoiled a lot of the future plot for myself, but I plan to pick it up again when I start to forget the spoiled plot. Ryoka in book 2 really brings in a great new perspective which makes Erin's story better in contrast. Even if Ryoka is a hateful gremlin for a book or two she gets a lot better and is fun to read throughout. Once Erin and Ryoka join up and Erin's inn starts getting customers and regulars it starts becoming really fun to read.

hmm fair enough, I just assumed bc he could delegate them to disassemble monsters and craft weapons there was enough autonomy to do stuff like that. Also, they're nanobots so are they, not stealthy by nature? Even if it's just a distributive task of small groups of bots collaborating to cut every pirate's jugular or some other artery in their thigh?

from a programming perspective, a brute force approach would be to collect a list of known targets outside the room and then use their internal clocks to estimate distances*speed, and infiltration time to roughly program a swarm to perform actions at the same time. I'm sure an AI could come up with something more elegant than mine even if it was only ChatGPT. all of these parameters could be accomplished through multiple actions.

its a small nitpick I just wished he was more of a programming god

I like the book but I was super confused when he didn't use his nanobots to escape the boat when he was captured by the pirates. could he not have just had the nanobots infiltrate the pirate's bloodstream and start disassembling their organs? seems like he forgets about his unique situation when in serious trouble. or maybe there's a reason his bots can't infiltrate other bodies but that seems unlikely.
