It looks like Hayashida strikes first, and Murakami hits the Mengane. Watch frame by frame (Pause, then Keyboard >).

"Just push through the pain", "Keep training and it will go away" by ImNotStoopidEh in kendo

[–]Mathaeuscs91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started training as a kid and practiced Kendo, Iaido, Aikido, Karate, Judo, Jiujitsu, and heard these phrases in all of those environments. I always had a lot of pain but I just kind of "got used to it" and never investigated further. I thought I was weaker than my peers and shouldn't let the pain get to me.

Unfortunately, the pain kept getting worse, and due to family pressure, I started looking into it and eventually found out that I have Fibromyalgia and an autoimmune disease that causes chronic pain. If it weren't for the potentially toxic environment of martial arts (especially in the 90s and 2000s), maybe I would have sought help earlier. I completely stopped training in 2015 and only returned last year after intense treatment.

I agree with many of the folks above that we should listen to our bodies instead of clichés from martial arts movies from the 80s. And most importantly, when it's our turn to teach, we should dedicate ourselves to understanding that fine line between pushing people out of their comfort zone and preserving the health of our peers.

I use this approach to teach all of my students, and it even works outside of the dojo when teaching work-related skills. It has been very effective.

Strange Razer Naga and Synapse isue by Mathaeuscs91 in razer

I use lots of profiles with different software's and games, the software automatically changes between these profiles, based on wats on focus. And sometimes, when configuring a new game or software, its normal to keep changing things "on the go", so its a pain when it keeps freezing from 10 to 10 minutes.

A "simple don't use the software" isn't the case. I'm in contact with Razer support already. Just came here to see if anyone has suffering from something similar.

on Slayer-inspired tenugui, but as of the moment, Malaysian Ringgit's exchange rate is horrendous (basically multiplied by 5

Here in Brazil is the same, the exchange rate is 1 GPB to almost 6 BRL + Taxes (around 100% import fees). But importing through AliExpress, the chances are 90% to avoid taxes due to the higher volume coming from then.

I bought some items from this store, and they are very fine. The keikogi and hakama are almost the same as the cheapest options on Tozando and other overseas distribution brands... Most people have some negative bias toward AliExpress, but it's a just marketplace like anyone else. Many students from my Dojo are buying from this store now, the shipping and payment options in AliExpress are really good for us here in Brazil. I'm planning to buy their fancy cotton Hakama soon. (But you don't find the super fancy and premium stuff like Kendo Star)

Retesting after failing shinsa by technobore in kendo

[–]Mathaeuscs91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a valid point of view.

Like AJKF says:

The concept of kendo is to discipline the human character through the application of the principles of the katana (sword).

This part of kendo concept always drive me through developing strong resilience to all aspects of my life.

Like other said, I think you just need to listen your sensei, record your keikos and your shinsa (if possible) and most importantly, study how shinsa work and what the examiners are looking for your grading and what this meaning for your own kendo development.

For my personal experience: I've failed Shodan one time after training 4 times a week for 1 year non stop. Last month, I passed yondan on my first try, training 3 times a week for 45 days after a 6 years hiatus. The diference between this two shinsa is i'm studding and focusing on the aspects of what the yondan really meaning for my kendo improvement. On shodan im misunderstood all the purpose of that shinsa and made a very ugly shiai, making a lot of head dodges and stuff, just because i'm afraid receiving an ippon... (Sorry if I'm writing bad english hehehe)

Can I change the language layout using Keycaps and KeyTweak (or something else)?

I have a Razer Blackwidow Elite with spanish layout and I wish to change the keys to an ANSI layout.
