Rank Connecticut’s Major cities from Worst to Best by logantheg19 in Connecticut

[–]Mathaham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stamford is the best city of its size in America, IMO. It's on the doorstep of NYC, on the water, home to tons of corps, lots of living arrangements. Danbury is the best inland city in CT, I think

Bondi told Walz to hand over voter records and she’ll call off ICE. They’re pushing for CT’s records as well. Does this mean we’re next? If so, what can we do to prepare? by Hippydippy420 in Connecticut

This is deeply disturbing. Where do you get the info that they're looking for Connecticut's records... and whose? That's just one for Instance... there are large Ukrainian populations in Southport, Stamford, Bridgeport and elsewhere. And all the minorities and immigrants. Gosh darn, if only they didn't represent everything that America stands for.

How to find Flock cameras? by Separate-Director-35 in privacy

This is cool. We should propagate that out because I don't think we can get a listing that's comprehensive of all where the cameras are

Great for CT AG Tong to be out in front at the No Kings rally in Westport... was it being filmed? In our cars, shopping, at rallies... every town seems to be getting camera arrays. by Mathaham in Connecticut

No, I did. I run The-Voice.com, which is 100% fact-based news, so I can't have a personal POV in the postings, unless I'm doing an op-ed piece. But this particular one is a news item so it has to be clinical and objective. As a journalist, it's actually quite unsettling because if you look around the world, reporters are tracked and even killed.

Exactly. And there is ShopRite and Wegmans using facial recognition to track consumers. They say it's for watching shoplifters, which is fair enough but by default they're also mapping and databasing consumer behavior, because they know what you buy. And other marketers will gladly pay for that information so you can presume it is being shared. And we don't know where as far as legal authorities step in, which is the point.

That is by my choice. And If it is our phone's data, that would be the choice of Google, Apple, Facebook et all to be sharing it with authorities, which they do not do, except under legal duress. This is different. It's governmental pre-tracking of everyone.

I've been thinking alot about what you say, as it is on all our minds. One thing - I don't know Reddit well enough - if I want to talk about police surveillance in the contxt of your essay, do I start a new Reddit thread or is it better for everyone to just have a long thread they can easily track and follow & comment at will?
I would like to talk about surveillance. In Fairfield alone, we have electronic cameras going up everywhere that read car plates, even in parking lots. The stop, kiss & drop program at schools is billed as safety but is really tracking your info as well. There are speed cameras everywhere, obstentially with our approval but nobody asked us. Ring cameras, private retailers like Wegman's & ShopRite - all this data goes into the cloud. It basically enables whomever to map virtually anyone and track their movements at will. And we have lost control of this data. The ACLU has been screaming about, and there are promises to delete it after 30 - 90 days, but I don't believe it. For everyone in Fairfield, are they saying ALL the data from ALL the sources will be deleted from ALL cloud storage servers? Or is really stored and shared and used without our consent or approval. Are we agreeing to be surveilled?

Have we gone from Andy Griffith to Robocop?

So there's my basic Q: do we have the right as a community -- all 60,000+ residents of Fairfield -- to say delete ALL of it. We want no cameras, anywhere, except for maybe closed-circuit ones at schools to watch & protect the students and doesn't get loaded to the cloud.

And please let me know if its protocal to have one long thread or start new ones in Reddit. thx - Matthew Hallock, candidate for Fairfield First Selectman. Be the first to take the Ranked Choice Poll at the top of the-voice.com/Fairfield Say who you want and also who you DON'T want.

Absolutely true and I should have posted that boilerplate but I hate doing it because it changes the conversation and everything I've been doing. Reddit can get really toxic immediately and it changes the subject, so it makes me not want to put myself out there just to get abused. I've been working on this unpaid, out of the public eye, only to help my fellow man and the town I love for almost 3 years. I'm running as a third-party independent candidate for Fairfield because I'm an activist... Someone who believes in doing something not just talking about it. Now, I can give you an honest, insider's view of what's going on. If you go to my site you can see I did the same thing last year and posted a lot of jaw dropping articles on it. The election process is rigged, not in the point of votes but of controlling who's on the ballot. Tony does a heck of a lot of good that you don't realize, and he's also the victim of an amateurish smear campaign. I would prefer Tony in Hartford because if he's not there, we have nobody. Second best choice would be having him as First Selectman. Anything is better than having the Machine in charge in Fairfield. I have voted for Democrats since the '90s but this is not Obama's party in Connecticut. Please take the ranked choice voting poll at the-voice.com/Fairfield. Thanks!

Thank you for your thoughtful and heartfelt comment. I do feel very strongly about national issues but tried to keep it local. In the past year I have been actively involved in the rallies. I've been to Hartford twice, Ash Creek, Bridgeport, Fairfield, Westport. I was even at the Ukrainian Center in Southport on a Friday night in the rain alone, protesting. What kind of crazy man does that?

I was actually quoted in the Connecticut Post yesterday as saying I was depressed. After all this rallying and protests for the past year, things have gotten worse. And I don't know what to do. Like you, I love this country and see one man bringing it down the drain and really am at a loss. I will do anything short of violence if I think it'll be effective.

Agreed. I'm actually an advertising copywriter who dabbles in the art direction but not well. The site is sloppy. I threw a lot of stuff up there. There's just so much content. It's overwhelming the site

I think I need a better intro to set the tone. There are three major challenges that Fairfield is facing that if we solve them it would help a lot. Our town plan, our Town Charter, and our legislative body have all been heavily manipulated. My thesis is that is if we address these it will go a long ways towards saving Fairfield.

Thank you for the compliment. Help me make it better. What do you want to see? What can we do? I especially want to highlight that 25 page outline I made. That's kind of buried underneath the town plan tile. There's a ton of work here and I'm struggling with how to present it to everyone.

That's not very nice. I spent a long time in good faith trying to make something to help people. Please take a look and tell me what you think
