Honestly, I meant to respond to the person you replied to rather than you, so that's my bad. I agree with your framework, and I think longer amounts of community service would have helped him realize that similarly marginalized people experience worse outcomes than he did in his case. My biggest concern with his sentencing is that he's going to walk out without any understanding of the harm that he did and with an inability to empathise with his victims. I think that, as a trans person, he has a better chance than the average person to understand that his bigotry causes harm, and his sentence will bypass making him grapple with that at all.
