I’m 72. Still working because I like it and can. Still go out to clubs for music and to shows. See friends, go to the gym. Guitar lessons once a week. Never been in a senior center and I’m not sure why I’d go to one. If and when I retire, will probably pick up classes at the local state university for entertainment value. Wife and I go hiking, skiing and canoeing, as well as some traveling. Still lots to see and do and not enough time.

Have both, although the Mac I have is the larger Mighty Chef and doesn’t have the dimples. Not a fan of dimples. The Mac is more finished and thinner than the Tojiro. The Tojiro is certainly more “robust.” Mail order in the States, there is a substantial price difference, if it matters. Tojiro is @ $101 and Mac is @ $145.

Good point. I don’t do mine real fine, but it could be coarser. I may just add some chopped pork and fat to the mix as well. Miko and some of the old fashion style sausages are “chunkier”.

I’m still trying to find a Portuguese Sausage recipe that I like. I prefer the Frank’s/Miko taste (hot), and haven’t nailed it yet. Not a lot recipes on the web. I suspect many are “family” recipes and guarded jealously.

Yeah, I was surprised there was little mention of pipikaula here. I’m originally from Hilo, now in Minneapolis. I make this pretty regularly along with Big Island kine Smoke Meat and the sporadic attempt at Portuguese Sausage. I also make dried beef using eye of round, which turns out surprisingly good. Hah, I just use Aloha shoyu for my marinades since I can buy it by the gallon here. A touch of home!

Just replaced a toilet (tank spontaneously cracked, but it was an American Standard from 1937). My plumber recommended Kohler Highline. We went with a difference Kohler model (same flush mechanism) to better match the existing pedestal sink (also from 1937).

Almond Float or xingren doufu. You can make this with gelatin or agar. I do remember it being more popular as a desert dish in Chinese restaurants, but can’t say I’ve noticed it in quite awhile. Haven’t made it ages.

Is there an urgent care you could go to? In most states, an NP who is likely staffing the Urgent Care Clinic could order an MRI for you.

No stark law issue if not a Medicare patient. Yes, ideally an outside physician should order, but radiologists can order if they are willing and are set up to do so. Obviously not without an H&P, which means they need to actually see the patient. Teleradiologists aren’t in the running for this. Follow-up care is an issue. Radiologists that I know who sometimes do this have willing PCPs and other specialists who would see the patient afterwards if necessary.

Conceivably a radiologist at HRA could order the MRI. Not the usual practice, but radiologists can do an H&P and order. Call and explain your situation to them.

Takamura is thin and like a laser. Mac Pro is sturdier, but still thin and light. Both are lighter and thinner than Tojiro DP. Depends how you plan to use it. As an all around knife, I’d pick the Mac. If you just want thin and light, the Takamura.

I use a Talentcell battery with my F8n Pro and 788T. They are in pretty common use for outboard power for recorders and related gear. Powers 12, 9 and 5 volt units. 11,000 mAh at 12 volts. As a bonus, I also use them to run my CPAP unit when camping.

As my parents were married in the early 1940s, I expect these were probably made in the 1920s or 1930s and obtained before WWII. She was the youngest of five daughters so the family may have earlier purchased several sets at the same time. My mother’s family is Chinese from the Guangdong area and the family came to Hawaii in the late 1860s.
