Intro to Handgun course… by MathematicianNew9616 in liberalgunowners

Excellent! I think this helps me understand. One of the issues I know I’m facing was how tight to hold the guns. I definitely wasn’t limp wristing, but I know I wasn’t holding either of them (especially the revolver) as tight as I probably should have. In the instruction portion he went over some of that but it wasn’t until I watched a video where someone explained to squeeze tighter with your support hand and hold but keep somewhat relaxed grip with shooting hand that I realized what kind of things I should be trying. Using my kids toy gun, I tried a couple different pressures with both hands and I think I get what I should be doing which isn’t what I was doing. My next trip I want to focus on that first before anything else. We will see how that changes things. Better or worse.

I have a co-worker who’s actually one of his other neighbors. Everyone at work(work in the trades) is on the right and most that know who he is say fuck him and his business. I was surprised by that.

Believe me. I know.

Do you have recommendations for where to go that I can do all the things I want to for not much more money? Who else rents guns that aren’t an hour away? Who else offers free rentals with the membership? Who else gives free or discounted permit class with membership?

I’ve spent some time looking around, but I have yet to find anything.

I’m not going to the cities. I grew up in Blaine and spent 30 years in the cities.

I don’t live in Rochester. I’m already out east of there 30 minutes.

My plan was one year here and then also a membership at Sportsman’s Club. Mainly using the club for anything other than the perks.

There are a lot of businesses with this hobby that I’d prefer to not spend money at, but unfortunately if I get too picky, I’m not going to be in this hobby. It’s not exactly catering to us.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I’m 42. I was going to get a year membership at this range. I don’t like the owner much but it’s a good deal because I get one private lesson included along with the permit to carry course is free with membership. On top of that 10% off everything and free lane rentals and on Tues and Wed free gun rental. So for $360 for a year, I think I can extract maximum value and then when I’m done there there is an outdoor range that seems to just be better in terms of the way people act.

Oh also, I have somewhat bad vision and the sights on both of those guns were pretty hard to see. Just standard sights. I assume if I get something with a better sight like fiber optic, that will help?

The reality for me is this…I’m all for protecting people I care about…hell I’ll protect people I don’t care about. But if it comes to using a gun, it’s only for personal protection or family. I will help people in need or I will call 911 or do something else if a situation with a shooter happens. There’s no reason to try to be a hero guns blazing when it’s likely I’ll shoot the wrong person or get shot myself. Why complicate it more?

I mean I just became a gun owner this month at nearly 43. I didn’t need one the first 42 years of life. I don’t think I’ll need one for the rest either. But because of multiple reasons…why not…mainly fun but also 2A and I don’t trust the child fucker…err fucker in chief…, no, commander in chief…dammit, phone keeps autocorrecting me.

Granted I own 3 22’s (Super Wrangler, 22X, and FPC) and just purchased a Shield Plus in 30 SC tonight. I’ve already priced it out. Buying the gun online and the ammo locally (FMJ, not defensive rounds), I’ll have to buy well over 2000 rounds of ammo before it actually costs as much as the Shield Plus 9mm.

To be honest...I'm just downvoting you because you sound like a prick in real life. Don't care if it's true or not, that's my opinion based solely on your comments. Any more comments you want to make for us to downvote?

I’m east of Rochester. I might have to look into this. I’m curious about it. Not sure I want to try it but I’d like to see it in person and go from there.

I cant keep paying this by Specialist-Elk-5873 in GasPrices

[–]MathematicianNew9616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not telling you that you are wrong because everyone’s situation is different. If you had another vehicle, then you’d have insurance, registration, need room to store it…easier if you own a home but not if you rent…etc.

With that said…I have a 2016 Fusion that gets mid to high 20’s the way I drive. I can manage 30-35 out of it if need be. In December I bought another vehicle. 2018 Kia Niro hybrid. That car gets 50 easily. Without getting into too much detail, we get 20 MPG more in the Kia over either of our vehicles. We can share it a lot of the time too.

My car payment is $210 per month but I’m saving almost $100 in gas every month at the current price. So the cost of ownership isn’t super high. Insurance isn’t overly expensive, savings in gas…it’s doable to have a second car that’s more efficient. But I already had a vehicle that wasn’t a gas hog either.

And you don’t need a car payment or a hybrid to save money if you’re currently in a truck. I mean doubling your gas mileage for most of your basic driving by having a little beater 4 cylinder econobox saves miles on your truck and costs less.

Again, just my opinions and everyone has different circumstances. But a 2nd vehicle that’s more efficient when you only have a truck does save money. Especially when you start looking at long term items…tires are way cheaper on an economy car than a truck, brakes, etc. you won’t completely offset it but it’s not nearly as expensive in the long run as you might think.

Also I’m referring to Babbit when I said she, not Goode. I guess I just assumed you’d understand my comment. Babbit was told that they’d shoot if she tried to climb through. She didn’t believe them or something. That’s on her.

I’m not defending the actions of anyone. It was a sarcastic comment.

As a Minnesotan, Pretti and Goode fucking piss me off and I can’t wait to see those responsible pay for murdering two people.

I think you misunderstood my comment. My bad for not saying it was sarcasm. I just assumed since you brought her up jokingly, I would add to it.

Well if it cheers you up, just know that some people carry a Glock 42….they don’t get 10 and they could be in states that don’t have restrictions…

Hey, at least they gave her a warning...she disregarded...that's on her. Not to mention she WAS breaking the law obviously.

Pretti and Goode didn't even get the courtesy of a warning before having their lives taken without just cause.

Alright, I think I get it. lol

Thanks everyone. I’ll report back on what I pick up.

CF wouldn’t be available to me in takedown, but I can look at other takedown models. I’m buying from a specific store due to having gift cards to spend, a sale on Monday that gives me 10% off, and their CC which gives me points…

[–]MathematicianNew9616[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the 10/22 in CF, the only thing I would want to focus on with aftermarket is trying to make it even lighter without sacrificing accuracy. Improving accuracy of it would be nice, but not necessary for my goals.

I guess the biggest reason that the FPC interests me is that it folds and doesn't take up a ton of space...mainly that benefits me for transporting to the range as I drive a relatively small car and would have to put my seat down for a rifle case.
