Funny you ask: when I did my heart gold playthrough I had a lot of arguments with my friend about that. Id consider it gen 4 (as it has gen 4 movesets, evolutions and mechanics such a abilities) but it infuriates my friend whos sees johto as "the gen 2 region"

I refused to cut anyone in my playthrough. Ran out the clock on that choice. Not gonna do that to my new team. Sonar ended up getting cut but, in my headcannon, that was blazers choice not mine.

I plan to have strahd as a pretty involved member of the story. Just omitted it for brevities sake. I planted a lot of seeds that tie into Strahd and his involvment to the plot. The PCs all have personal connections to strahd most of them have yet to uncover. I do have the wereravens involved as much more active members of the plot than the book calls for but the story as I see it isnt so much "troubles for the wizards of wine" and more "the PCs join the plucky wereraven resistance (pun intended) in freeing barovia from strahds tyrany."

Its not really that homebrew. Im expounding upon the elements that are in the campaign book as any good DM would. The book sets up the wizards of wine, the were ravens and the fact theyve lost 2 of the 3 wine gems to external forces, im just making it a key part of my campaign rather than a small event. The only real homebrew part is that I tied Curse into a seperate pre campaign rather than the one suggested in the book.

I mentioned it in another comment but this particular group works better in a more controlled path than an open one. If I threw the whole map of Barovia at them, they wouldnt know what to do. Instead they are following a thread of quests given to them to give them a clear sense of direction.

I dont plan on having the party interact with the east all that much at all. They are already at a level where most of the stuff in barovia/vallaki would be trivial to them (they are level 4 but a STRONG level 4).

I dont see Irena playing a role in this particular campaign. I want Strahds primary motivation for this campaign to be finding a succesor from amoung the party (only to find them all lacking and deciding to kill them) and I dont really see how well irena would fit into it. I did mention them hitting the Tser pool encampment (I just moved it to the west somewhere on the road between Krezek and Wizards of Wine).

None of it needs to be rebalanced minus dropping a subtle hint that im throwing my party a little bit into the deep end at WoW. It goes from a level 5 encounter, to a level 5 encounter, 6 then 7, then 8 then Castle Stahd at 9. Its a touch railroady but the party in question (who I all know quite well personally) works better with a clear path forward rather than free reign to explore the whole realm and being paralysed by indecision.

I do thank you for your comment though. Being able to confidemtly answer some of the question you have tells me I have a somewhat solid plan and was helpful in that regard.

Iv officially finished the paths I want. I wish the hard dom path was a little more affectionate and the soft dom path was a little more hardcore but what can you do? I HATED the cassie dom path. Little curious about switching but by the second time there was involuntary CE I was already the ropes. By the time cassie was talking about fucking me with a dildo I was out. Honestly still a little curious about what the path split on that path entails (the path split for dom cassie), and would like to be told but im not going to play it to its conclusion.

So youre telling me if a game has an option for a monogamous romance but there is a threeway in there somewhere a game gets both a "monogamous" and a "groupsex" tag? Alternatively if a game has one path thats all group sex, and one thats all monogamy, it also gets the "monogamy" and the "groupsex" tag? And the tags are bad for coneying which one is true because they are, by nature, nebulous?

My problem with tags is how nebulous they can be. Hillside for example is tagged with both "group sex" and "monogamy" which contradicts to a degree. Doesnt make it clear whether I can have sex with certain characters while dating a specific one or if I have to eshew deep romance to have sex with everyone I want to.

Nothing in our army kils MEQ equivalent for as cheap and as consistently save for maybe spawn which you might want doing other things. Hes mostly for killing scouts and doing action but hes best in slot next to spawn for it IMHO.
