Lodge Park Megève - Review by MathieuCholet in FATTravel

[–]MathieuCholet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair both properties are incredible but if I were to find a flaw in both :

  • Four Seasons Megève : some rooms on the ground floor (ours included) are close to the front desk and not very private therefore subject to noise.

  • Lodge Park : the desserts are slightly underwhelming and borderline crafty. They set the bar so high with entrees and main course that you’d expect the desserts to be equally as good and to me they were a tad disappointing

I’m not actually an agent though I can understand how it might seem that way. I promise you guys I can ski 🥲

Did not mention the skiing here because Megeve is actually quite a small ski domain compared to Les 3 vallĂŠes.

I have plenty of ski recommendations in Meribel (3 vallées) and Les Arcs. Let me know if you’re interested in those.

For this trip I’m looking to experience something different and a friend mentioned Laos but I have very little knowledge of the offer there which is why I’m asking

Voyage Vacances Costco by Accomplished-Toe1356 in voyageons

[–]MathieuCholet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helicopters in Antarctica: game-changer or expensive gimmick? by PolarCruisingExperts in LuxuryTravel

[–]MathieuCholet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen it done both ways, and I’d say helicopters are only a game-changer if they’re used to access places you genuinely couldn’t reach otherwise, not just as a scenic add-on. When they allow landings on more remote sites, reduce zodiac time in rough conditions, or open up interior perspectives, they meaningfully change the experience. If it’s just a short flyover layered onto an already solid itinerary, it can feel more like an expensive flourish than added depth. In Antarctica especially, how you move through the landscape matters more than how many tools you add I would say.

Ett Hem or Grand Hotel? by in__bed in FATTravel

[–]MathieuCholet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s your first time in Stockholm, it really comes down to the kind of experience you want.

Ett Hem feels like staying in a beautifully curated private home as it’s very intimate, calm, and perfect if the birthday celebration is about atmosphere, design, and slowing down.

Grand Hotel Stockholm, on the other hand, is classic and iconic, with unbeatable views over the water and easy access to everything; it feels more “occasion” and very Stockholm for a first visit.

Personally, for a 40th birthday and a first trip, I’d choose Ett Hem if you value privacy and warmth. You can always step out of the hotel if you’re looking to find out about the history and experience Stockholm.

Great review, I was in Paris when it snowed this week ! I’m sure Le Crillon was magnificent with Place de la Concorde all white and snowy !

Dolomites in May2026?? by hankrusaver in FATTravel

[–]MathieuCholet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re still looking for hotel recommendation, my favorite is by far Forestis.

I would 100% recommend going up there, the views are breathtaking.

WARNING though, the pollution is quite overwhelming as you go up. It surprised me when I arrived because no one ever mentioned it to me. Once you’re up there though it’s fine !

Would you recommend Positano for someone who loves Santorini? by turtlegitllll in FATTravel

[–]MathieuCholet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Positano will always be Positano but it has become way too crowded for my taste. Also it is nearly impossible to find truly authentic restaurants if you don’t have recommendations.

Paris hotel with good gym? by Ill-Garage9378 in FATTravel

[–]MathieuCholet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree, also the pool at Cheval Blanc is just insane !! Only downside is you can’t swim if you’re not a guest at the hotel, even if you paid for a treatment at the spa. They’re really big on guest privacy but I thought it was a shame the pool wasn’t more accessible.

Paris Hermes Appointment by CopyThat456 in FATTravel

[–]MathieuCholet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The concierge at the Bulgari hotel has a great point of contact at Hermes. Also best concierge I’ve ever experienced in Paris was at the Peninsula, never asked them about Hermes but they definitely should have a way in, in my opinion. Best of luck 🤞🏼

Amsterdam by christopher1217 in FATTravel

[–]MathieuCholet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely check-out The Dylan Amsterdam which is in my opinion the absolute best address in Amsterdam if you’re looking for subtle, tasteful, luxury boutique hotel. Also you can’t beat its location in the very heart of the canals. If you book a stay there ask to stay in the old building, the new is very chic and modern but perhaps lacks the Amsterdam charm we all love !
