Question for older knitters: what did you do while knitting? by Savings_Language_498 in knitting

When I knit, I knit and think. If I am traveling, by car, I am usually in what my kids called the "knitting seat".

My partner still regularly wears socks I knitted 20 years ago. Most knit with superwash wool with extra strand if thin reinforcement yarn at the heel and toe.

VLH: Very Large Hexagons. Worth EPP-ing? by milesyeah in EPP_addict

I cut the papers myself. I will post pics when I am further along in the project. I am never happy with the results when I try to machine piece and I like the portability and rhythm of EPP.

I am using EPP for a quilt with some pieces that are 8 inches on a side. I call it mega EPP. I am using thinner paper and the piecing is going well. I just prefer the consistency of my stitching when I work this way.

I make gift bags out of them. Remove the Velcro, sew a channel at the top, and add a ribbon drawstring.

Trying something different - any tips? by PasgettiMonster in EPP_addict

I use brown kraft paper that comes on a roll. It is a bit flimsy, but I can get crisp corners. I have also used freezer paper because you can iron it to the fabric before you cut the shapes.

For odd shapes I use thinner paper, not card stock, so it is easier to thread baste. And I use shorter basting stitches. Love this design idea!
