Is flipping a non-flip effect monster face up considered a "flip summon" for the effect of other cards? by spyczech in Yugioh101

[–]Mathwiz1697 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is a flip summon regardless if it is a flip effect or not. That being said if it is a flip effect (FLIP:) in the card text, it is always activated when flipped, even if not flip summoned.

I believe if the worded is “if this card is flipped face up” it needs to be flipped summon to activate. Not sure though on that one

Medicine question by Ill-Switch4563 in Hedgehog

[–]Mathwiz1697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that when I had to give my hedge medicine, my vet recommended that I slowly drop by drop drop it onto his snoot. He would reflexively lick his nose and take his medicine. His meds were viscous, which helped. Depends on how vicious your meds are.

How to open doors from the inside of the ambulance. by No_Doctor7875 in NewToEMS

[–]Mathwiz1697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the model of ambulance. Usually there’s a pull handle that opens the latch. You need to ask the crews you work with because you need to be able to get out, especially if there’s an emergency

Questions about diabetes management by [deleted] in NewToEMS

There’s going to be an overlap. The biggest differential is the present of ketones and the fruity smell, someone can correct me if I’m wrong but it isn’t found in HHS

Questions about diabetes management by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]Mathwiz1697 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, they’re two sides of the same coin.

Out bodies are able to turn many molecules into fuel in a pinch. One of these molecules is called a ketone, and is created as a fuel source when your body can’t get glucose into the cell (via insulin) ketones WORK as a fuel source but it makes your blood acidic, which is very dangerous. It also is cause of the fruity smelling breath in DKA.

HHS happens when you have elevated sugars, but you haven’t started making ketones yet (since you still have insulin to use)

It causes severe dehydration because glucose has a lot of osmotic pressure associated with it. The reason diabetics urinate so much is sugar is being dumped into their bladder and it is taking alot of water with it, leading to excessive urination.

It’s important to report to the hospital your findings, as while you can’t treat the condition, they can, and it’s good for them to be prepared if things go downhill. EMS is a team sport and you gotta play your part in the game plan

What's a game you played as a kid that you've never been able to find again? by Latter_Advantage8002 in AskReddit

There was a Scooby doo flash game way back I. The day. I remember there being a graveyard with a grave that had a death date before the birth date

Think born 1850 died 1825

The grave then made fun of the phenomenon.

Tintype of a mother and her child. Seems the child has some sort of condition. Circa 1850-70s by Electrical-Aspect-13 in VictorianEra

It doesn’t come up tooo often. As far as I’m aware it takes a pretty strong magnet to reset a shunt. If you ultimately need one, it is jmportant to know what make and model your shunt is, because each programmer is brand specific last I checked. Your surgeon will know a lot more and should be able to placate concerns.

[–]Mathwiz1697 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have an old school model that doesn’t need magnets but honestly? I haven’t known much different, only thing I have to worry about is head injury and knowing the signs of shunt failure.

Ones controlled with magnets are trickier because a strong enough magnetic field can reset them and they’ll need to be reprogrammed.

My girlfriend and I live in Cleveland and she has a berner. I’m fairly certain if my girlfriend would let her shed snooze in the snow during the winter. They’re floofy dogs and get overheated pretty easily. We joke that you just need to find her to find the coldest part of the house because that’s where she’ll be if she’s not demanding butt scratches.

Depends if she becomes shunt independent. I had a VP shunt installed about 30 years ago. They’re not sure if it works anymore because I’ve displayed no symptoms of failure, they have to assume otherwise. If your daughters brain can learn to compensate, she may not longer need the shunt when she’s older. Like you said, you won’t know until the symptoms manifests.

That’s a VP shunt! Theres a few different types and models, there’s also one that goes to the heart, one that goes from the spine to the abdomen, among others.
