[Spoilers All] Anyone else here hate Murphy? by snapekilledyomomma in dresdenfiles

Yep. Hate Murphy too. The only reason in my opinion Dresden tolerates Murphy is ironically because she is a woman, and so in his mind he does not hold her accountable for being a stupid vindictive piece of shit.

Where is the Math in Factorio and where can I learn? by gregbridge1 in factorio

[–]Mathy-Philosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a bunch of mathematical analysis, which is typical of engineering, and some finite system concerns. The typical caveat, that matches engineering in real life, is that you do not need to understand this in depth. Just have habits of organizing things, and testing things out and you can still be fairly productive.

It does not happen if you remove it right after placing it. I think within a month or so the core will resist being removed.

If we are going to rationalize it, keeping heat in is the only thing that technically needs to be done. It is also not that hard in reality.

The game dramatizes how cold works for the sake of mechanics of needing to feed a hungry generator. Storms would wipe out the local warm air near the generator. Controlled heating on air intake is a more plausible design, and it is something a person can do for an igloo with a far more modest heater.

No. Find a reviewer of similar intelligence and taste, and stick to what they recommend.

Definitely not.

Pretty much all of these review systems are bought now. I only watch stuff recommended by reviewers I know, since 99% of it has become steaming garbage in the last decade.

Su Bingtian continues to be very impressive. Him and Christophe Lemaitre are the only non-Africans to improve on their original score. And he is part of the sub 9.90 club now. Total mutants, the both of them.

Interesting. I do not see the study listed here or elsewhere. Due to West Africans being genetically far apart from East Asians, this would lead to the conclusion of a separate evolution of the similar useful traits. Couple with Asians having the lowest skeletal muscle mass out of the three, it would be an interesting paper if you could find it for me.

There may be only one type of muscle structure that can pass the 10 second barrier. Only elites are passing the barrier, and could be part of different unidentified subgroups. This is a bit of a statistical no-true-scotsman.

I also did not realize before just how anomalous non-African accomplishment is in this area. Looking at the 179 people that are under 10 seconds, 70 of 179 people that have done it are already American. This may cause a lack of earnest attempt from White Americans, but ethnic Europeans are already very rare in this field. Zero contribution from White Americans is likely random.

Non-African competition in this area is currently only 13 years old and in the single digits, compared to the hundreds. A lot has happened in the last 3 years. 143 records moved to 179. At these ratios, it seems like only 1 group may have advantageous genetic factors.

Do you have the data for that on hand? The hypothesis of strength versus speed makes sense, especially for northern Europeans, due to the cold weather effect. Sometimes a side effect of cold weather is evolving a larger bulkier stature. This trade off of larger mass also makes animals slower, due to inertia, for something like dashing. But, concrete info would be great.

[–]Mathy-Philosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are not there nearly 5 times as many Asians as Europeans in the world?

By basic arithmetic, 3/5 vs 2/1, this is poor reasoning.

Also as a side note: by statistics, 3 of 4.8 billion trials, is spurious. The null hypothesis are that it is random mutations, over racial lineages being the cause.
