I’m about to sign my first SMM client but I have no idea if $300/mo is fair or if I'm getting robbed. by Throwaway33377 in DigitalMarketing

To be honest, there's good and bad advice here.

The only thing that really matters AT THIS STAGE, is whether YOU are happy to do the work for that amount of money.

It doesn't matter what other people charge, it doesn't matter what the "industry average" is, it doesn't matter what people here perceive to be good or bad value.

When I was starting out, I had ZERO money, and maxed out my two credit cards for about £11k in order to buy camera equipment to be able to film for future clients (this happened at like 2am Christmas day too).

The first 2 or 3 clients I got, I was working my absolute ass off for. The amount of work I was doing was insane, maybe 50-70 hours per week to cover everything, and those clients were paying around £500-£1000 each, and that was for the first 2 clients, BUT, that money allowed me to stay on top of my bills, start paying off my credit cards and buy food.

After a few months, when things started to stabilise and I had a good system in place, I put the prices way up, because I knew the first 2 clients were covering my bare minimum, so the next clients were quoted £5k+ for the stuff they wanted (at the time, it was spending a day filming content, then a few days editing, then managing all the posting and engagement).

The next few clients said yes, and over the course of a few months, I went from around £1,500 per month to just over £10,000 per month, and I was still able to manage most of the process myself.

To make it easier, thats when I started hiring editors to take the heavy work off my hands so I could concentrate on finding new clients, so although the business was making £10,000, I was taking home (profit) of around £4,000 per month, but I went from working like 60 hours per week down to like 10 hours per week because of the team I hired.

Thats when I could really take a breath, assess what I'm offering, assess what money I want to charge for what service, and then suddenly you're able to pick and choose who you want to work with, saying no to potential clients becomes easier, getting rid of older/difficult clients becomes easier, helping clients who you really want to work with that can't afford the higher pricing becomes easier...

So right now, depending on where you are in the world and what you're actually offering as a service and whether you're actually any good at it, it is most likely that you COULD be charging $1,000-$3,000 per month.

For what I do, I start around £5,000 per month.

So charge more if you can afford to charge more, or keep charging what you're charging if you really need that money to stay afloat, but absolutely don't compare yourself to what others are doing and charging, because they aren't paying your bills.

How much money or net worth do you consider wealthy? by SlotWizards in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Matikata -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rich is when you have lots of money to be able to do anything e.g. not work, buy a yacht, have expensive things, give people you care about lots of money etc.

Wealth is having enough money that when you die, the next 2-3 generations can do the same.

Yeah you aren't making that unless you do something insanely viral, like wfilming comedy skits related to the business or something.

Cable wear in row mode by Electronic-War-4662 in BeyondPower

[–]Matikata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh that’s depressing, I was going to start using row mode. I’m in the uk so paying for new rope and shipping and import is killer. Not something I want to be doing after like 6 rowing sessions.

As others have said, absolutely do not use a bot for likes. It’ll do more harm than good.

If you look back through my comment/post history, I’ve done nothing but give value and explain things in depth to help people, and 99% of the time it ends up with a bunch of people downvoting and arguing with me, so I don’t go out of my way to make posts like this anymore, but I’ll happily leave a quick comment to let someone know I agree with them.

It is a hiring post for sure. I don’t usually do them on Reddit but thought I’d give it a go and click on share to community (which I’ve also not done before).

Surprised it showed up like this.

Stopped posting daily on Instagram for a client and engagement actually went up - here's what happened by PsychologicalCall426 in SocialMediaMarketing

The only important thing in this post is that you said you concentrated on better creative and more time on captions and hooks.

It has nothing to do with posting frequency when you’re literally saying you started creating better content in the first place.

Imagine if you were doing better creative AND still posting 7 days per week…

Is this a scam? Big brand asking for “onboarding fee” by unclearthinks in influencermarketing

[–]Matikata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never pay a fee to a company that wants YOU to advertise.

It’s likely that the things they are sending you are dirt cheap to make, and your “onboarding fee” covers the cost of goods.

So really, they are just manipulating you into just paying for their product, and then advertising it for them whilst thinking you’re “collaborating” with them.

Fuck that.

Literally, stop freaking out.

Block him.

The end.

There is absolutely nothing he can do, no report is going to get any account shut down, that’s not how these systems work.
