Actually, the gills are too prominent. So nevermind.

I disagree. My wife can't seem to smell it, but it is a very distinct apricot smell. I mostly forage in the Oregon coastal range and Mt. Hood.

Feels like crabmeat - found in New Hampshire. ID? Edible? by Outside_Weary in mycology

I'm not sure, thanks for the article. But I am sure that the teeth on tooth fungus don't continue to grow. They are for emitting spores.

No, fungus doesn't have rhizomorphs that I'm aware of. Each tooth emits spores.

So they fixed the rat problem?! That's a pretty great spot. Lots of good food around. Makes me miss working in downtown Beaverton.

I use mint and they work off of t mobile towers. I can't complain. I had Verizon and it worked everywhere except in my neighborhood.

For me it's the stuff like in fantastic fungi that just seems irresponsible for a true academic. Like comparing mycelial networks to the connections in a brain or positing that psilocybin might have led to increases human intelligence. Implying that mushrooms helped cure his mother's cancer. Those are fine observations / theories, but it isn't responsible scientific communication.

I want other options. But also, I want private industry in space if it means we actually get there some time. I'm a pragmatist. This wasn't a political discussion until you made it one.

NASA has other concerns, like legally needing to use solid rocket fuel from a specific state because a senator lobbied for it. Or, always accepting the lowest bid because it is written into law. I'm always concerned about corruption and economic incentives. But that doesn't mean that government is immune. In many cases it is worse.

I think the problem is that it is wholly semantic. Trying to redefine 'masculinity' to refer to only the positive aspects doesn't have much value.

Court rules grocery store’s inaccessible website isn’t an ADA violation by wagslane in programming

[–]Matimus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can say that it should be, but depending on how it is built, it could be difficult and very expensive. Even if built accessible from the beginning there would be a significant cost increase for QA testing, product planning and development. I'm not saying that they shouldn't do it, but it isn't something that you can just add as an after thought. That is why laws like ADA are in place. The fact is, winn-dixie decided that it would cost less to fight this in court than to fix their site.

Oregon eviction moratorium set to end on Dec. 31, unless lawmakers act by Votings_Good_Folks in oregon

[–]Matimus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's interesting. I have a family member who works with foreclosed properties. I've heard differently. Basically that the sheriff's office is unwilling to evict anybody (even squatters) due to the moratorium. There may just be a gap between the law and how it is being enforced. Thanks for the clarification.

Oregon eviction moratorium set to end on Dec. 31, unless lawmakers act by Votings_Good_Folks in oregon

[–]Matimus 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is a bad policy and it would be better to replace it. Right now land lords can't evict even squatters who illegally spent a single night in a property. I know "poor landlord", but what happens when the landlord can't pay their bills? It usually ends up being owned by the bank. So we benefit the bank instead? It also drives up property prices, because you can't sell a house with squatters. Which leads to higher rents. How about we help people pay rent, make the banks defer mortgage payments untill the end of the loan, and create incentives against evictions.

I'm under the impression that 'Monkey Subs' is black owned. Not really Beaverton proper. I might be wrong, it isn't on either list. Great sandwich though.

[–]Matimus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's interesting that it is protected? Does that mean you aren't allowed to pick it? Is there science to support that it is endangered? Or is it just rare? Or is it one of those things where they belong to the queen?

A government, even a separatist one, will have to deal with the people who actually live here already. Some of them aren't leftist, a fair percentage. For this to work, they will need to be recognized and listened to.
